Hey everyone, I ordered a Solidoodle for my nephew on October 12. John gave me his word that it would arrive in time for Christmas. I asked for an update last week and he assured me it would ship in time. No shipping confirmation yet, should I be looking for a different gift? Thanks.

Not likely, october orders won't start until the new year, im order 46xx and it still hasn't shipped. Just tell your nephew a gift this good takes time to make 
The wait will be worthwhile. Its very unlikely you'll see it till 2013 but we've all been through the wait. I ordered middle august and got mine first week in December. With normal times being around 16 weeks but their production has been increasing steadily
It's ok. I just don't get much time off from work and I wanted an excuse to spend some time with him in the shop setting up the machine. I wouldn't mind so much but when someone gives you their word on something I take it as a promise. I agree that it would be unfair for it to ship before earlier orders. Oh well, guess I'm going shopping.

Woo. Order 4157, from September 4th, finally on the truck for delivery. Well, it was shipped on the 20th, but christmas happened.

And remember the order number does not necessarily mean the number of machines in the que because there are skipped numbers, parts orders, supply orders... Their shipping has really ramped up in the last couple of months

still 7000+ is a high number of orders of something
I got my 3 upgrade order in the first few hours they were offering them back in November and my order number is #5857. I placed my original order in late September and that number was #4549. Judging by the numbers of printers they have listed in the last email update for October and November you can bet a large majority of the difference is not made up of printers. When I first joined the wait was at an average of 20 weeks and if you check out the wiki it's down to 14 and dropping steadily.

I must have been minutes ahead of you. 5840 here.
Order number and even invoice number does not indicate by any means printers. I'm actually curious to see what they do. Are they going to start assembling sd3 even if normal orders aren't caught up to November or willtheywait till they get to the point that sd3 orders are concurrent with sd2 orders of same time period.

I hope so. I ordered on the 16th, and am really hoping I get it early February.

Oddly, the tracking number still says "Ready for UPS".
