Re: ColorFabb Bronzefill

Good luck with the y-axis shifting, you'll solve it.
I find the BronzeFill to ooze when doing large travels across the bed....

I'm about 30 hrs in a 85hr build.  I've already burned through a whole spool of the 1500gram and swapped in a second spool. ColorFabb strongly recommends the cooling fan, but I think it varies on hotend and machine... and model sizes too...

My model size:  18.39" x 19" x 8.25" inches...

I think for small sizes, it's a great material, however at large sizes, not so much.  As ColorFabb says, it's holds a great deal of heat energy and will have a tendency to sag in Z" (unless quick cooling happens)

I'm experiencing this right now   sad

Has anybody gotten this filament working on the Soli 4?

Re: ColorFabb Bronzefill

Just ordered my bronzefill. What settings did you all use with an e3d v6?

+1  I'm thinking of ordering some, and trying it with a stock SD4 extruder.

You're probably going to want to print up an MK5. I'm not familiar with this particular filament yet but you'll have a lot more luck with exotics if you can adjust the tension... I couldn't get T glase to work with my stock SD4 extruder to save my life and it's a pretty easy material to work with.

Re: ColorFabb Bronzefill

First shot with this stuff. Got a little sampler from Ben at Modfab.
Obviously my PLA settings need a little dialling back, but I think it's a pretty sweet material.
Stuck quite well to the buildtak too which was nice, didn't ruin it or anything.

Oh and this was through a bulldog xl and the hex hotend from RRD.

either way it was very happy to print steadily and smoothly.

Derp, it was at 60. Stick was fine, popped off much like normal PLA does.

Re: ColorFabb Bronzefill

Great thread with lots of info I was looking for! If it gets too bad we could post the stl show off pics else where, but those were just the kind of thing people want to see after getting settings correct. I just ordered a roll of this and can't wait to run some prints. I plan on using it to print some commemorative tokens for RAGBRAI this year, as our town is the first stop on day 2.

Re: ColorFabb Bronzefill

Can a few more people ring in with some settings for me to try? My threads are thin and solid fill is lackluster.

Re: ColorFabb Bronzefill

A few things to report.

Like a lot of people on twitter mention, works very well with standard PLA settings.

Threads along the Z look great. However, I couldn't get the settings just right to get consistent solid fill on the top. What that means is I could print those nice statue and model prints, anything 'standing up,' and get great looking ones. Nice! What I can't do is print something flat, like a bitcoin or medal, and get consistent solid top fill.

I've ordered a e3dLite6 hotend hoping that will help my fill issues, but if it doesn't I'll still have a great hotend. Will report results when I get the hotend installed.

What is your layer width set for? Try setting it to .48 if it is not. That is the golden number so to speak. Should be used by everyone but the tend to play with this number to fix poorly calibrated extruders.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
