Re: Question about upgrades

Ok so I got the new stepper drive in the mail. I know I have to change the steps per min for the extruder but is that it? Do I need to adjust the pot on the driver itself? Also How is it oriented in the socket? It looks like it can fit in either way and I dont want to burn something else up lol

Re: Question about upgrades

You will most likely need to adjust the trim pot, I would suggest doing it by ear.  Just set it to move for a long enough time so that you can adjust it while it is in motion.  It is much easier than people think if you just listen and feel the motion until it is sounding and moving smoothly.  As for orientation goes all the pins should be labeled so just match it up with the old unit that way.  You won't burn it out if yo get it in wrong it just won't work.

Re: Question about upgrades

This may go without saying, but make sure you are completely powered down and your USB plug disconnected when you switch out the driver chips...
