Re: Question about upgrades

Ok so I go the z axis to move the right amount(20 mm) now when I tell it to. Thanks for all of yalls help. But I dont understand why it thinks the middle of the bed is the front left corner?  To the best of my knowledge the printer shape settings have not changed. Is there some place else I should look?

Re: Question about upgrades

Did it behave this way before?  If not, did you accidentally double your X&Y steps/mm?

SD2 - Stock - Enclosure - Heated Bed - Glass Plate - Auto Fire Extinguisher
Ord Bot Hadron - RAMPS 1.4 - Bulldog XL - E3D v6 - 10" x 10" PCB Heated Build w/SSR - Glass Plate
Thanks for All of Your Help!

No it didnt act like this befoe. To the best of my knowledge Ididnt change the x,y steps. The x and y steps per/min are both set to 88.00

Re: Question about upgrades

Then you need to check the dimensions in the printer shape tab in RH.

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL

x min is set to 0
x max is set to 159
bed left is set to 0

y min is set to 0
y max is set to 150
bed front is set to 0

print area width is 159
print area depth is 150

Re: Question about upgrades

There is also a Printer Settings tab under Slic3r "Configure"...check those as well.

Ord Bot Hadron - RAMPS 1.4 - Bulldog XL - E3D v6 - 10" x 10" PCB Heated Build w/SSR - Glass Plate

Re: Question about upgrades

The slic3r settings for print area width, height, depth and center are ignored if you slice in RH. RH overwrites these settings with the --print-center=(x,y) command line argument when calling slic3r, so don't bother adjusting the slic3r settings for print area.

Re: Question about upgrades

Ok so I have tried the printer on another pc that was running it fine before the upgrade. Its doing the same thing:( Repeiter shows the print being in the center. But when I click run, The hot end travels to the front left corner.

Re: Question about upgrades

You have an SD2 so in configuration.h you need to make sure it is set to that.
// change to 3 for SD3 //{SD Patch}
#define SOLIDOODLE_VERSION 2 //{SD Patch}

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End

Re: Question about upgrades

would yall believe that after all of this my y motor burned out today during my second print. sad

66

Re: Question about upgrades

Not likely. Check VREF. it's more likely the driver burned up than the motor.

Re: Question about upgrades

+1 which motor is it?

the y axis motor

Re: Question about upgrades

I believe yall are right. I plugged the suspect motor into the port that the x axis motor uses and it works like a charm.

Re: Question about upgrades

If tweaking the VREF trimpot doesn't make it work again then the driver died. If you have a Sanguinololu, this is a $10 problem. If you have a Printrboard REV-E, you may need a new board. I recommend the Sanguinololu, RAMPS 1.4 or 1.5, and the RUMBA.

Edit: just noticed you have a Sanguinololu. Take the driver off of E and put it on Y, and put a DRV8825 on E. If you're going to buy a driver you may as well do some more upgrading! This will double the resolution of your hotend and make your prints look light years better.

Hold on and I'll find a purchase link for the 8825.

Re: Question about upgrades

If you do have a sanguinololu, you can put in a DRV8825 stepper drive for the extruder, then put the extruder's chip in Y. Then you end up with 1/32 microstepping in the extruder (smoother feed, but you have to double your steps/mm in the EEPROM). Nice little chance to upgrade.

SD3 w/ RUMBA (8825s), merlin hot end (in pieces). Ender3 w/ silent board for PLA printing. Ender5 w/ silent board, e3d v6, new z lead screw, and glass bed. DiY Kossel w/ smoothieboard (in pieces). Vellman Vertex (in pieces)
Shapeoko2 router in process of being converted to laser engraver (in pieces)
Multicam 5000 series CNC Router w/ 11HP spindle, 5x10' table, and auto tool changer (in pieces)

I started typing mine first, I think. I just had to research if the sanguinololu would play nice with 1/32 microstepping. My sluggishness is my downfall!
