Solidoodle 3 bed heats up, but doesn't move. (Page 1 of 3)

Could you post a picture of your motherboard? If you put the 4-pin Z motor connector on another axis like X, the bed does not move? Keep in mind that there are 2 plugs for each axis. The first is the endstop which has 2 plugs, and the motor which has 4. Post a picture of your motherboard so we know what type you have.

Congrats on the e3d. Once you're up and running you'll wish you had never used the stock hotend

Edit: also abandon the idea of sending in the printer somewhere. You'll get it going. There really aren't that many pieces.

Are you getting any error messages in the log screen at the bottom of RH? i.e. Maxtemp or Thermal Runaway?

So is it only the Z (bed) that won't move?...Do the X and Y jog commands work?

EDIT:  Also, never switch stepper plugs unless the printer is completely powered down and USB cable unplugged  Otherwise you can fry the stepper drivers.

In RH on the Manual Control tab...Click on the X and Y arrows.

EDIT: BTW, am I to assume that prior to you upgrading to the E3D, that the printer was running?

So can you move the carriage along X & Y using the arrows on the Manual Control tab in Repetier Host?

Just tested it. The heater stays at 220C fine. The extruder moves around xy normally and the filament wheels turn fine as well.I am also noticing that when I command the extruder to go a certain distance that surpasses the edge, it sounds like its crashing and hitting against the black piece with the stopper rather than just not moving to the set amount. This may be to the e3d extruder piece being a bit bigger, but I am not sure.

Have you upgraded your power supply? The e3d could be using too much power so that there is no more juice left for the z stepper. Try moving the z axis without heating the hot end. If it works then you probably need to upgrade your power supply.

One more thought. If you go to manual controls, and type "M119" into the textbox and hit send, the Repetier Host console will show you whether endstops are reading as activated/deactivated. The output will look something like this (I'm approximating):

You can ignore X_MIN, Y_MIN and Z_MAX, unless they say anything other than "open," but this shouldn't happen on the stock motherboard. Stock Solidoodles only have switches for X_MAX, Y_MAX and Z_MIN.

The output above is what you will see if X, Y, and Z are homed. if none of the axes are homed (pushing their endstop button), everything will read open. Check this as well. I don't think this is causing your bed issue, but if your printer is bumping into stuff this is worth checking.

Sounds like your thermistor is not connected properly to me. Make sure the thermistor legs are not making contact with the heater block or you will get inaccurate readings that could not only cause overheating, but M999 errors as well.

That's normal. There is no endstop on the left.  Edit: although as mentioned below it means your dimensions are wrong \/

Put the Z motor on the X or Y stepper driver with the printer off. Turn back on and command X and Y. If it doesn't move, you've got a wiring issue or the motor is donezo. If it does move you may have a burned up stepper driver

If you have a Sang board a burned up stepper is cheap to fix. If you have a Printrboard you'll need a new board, unless someone knows better than me.

I can turn it by hand to hit the Z stopper, but I do not hear the motor moving or even trying to go. For the printer settings i have the printer area width at 200, depth at 200 and height at 100. x and y max and 200, every other setting set at 0 for the printer shape tab.

EDIT: sending the extruder to home causes to crash for about 3 seconds making the same noise as in the video. Does not sound good
