Yes, I went thru that procedure Many times, with no change ![]()
Maybe I need a different version of Python ??

I used the older 2.X version..

I started to try to find an older version to download
but it seems that the latest version of Python would have better chance of working with W10,
than an older version would ?
I my try it anyway, the conflict may not be with W-10, but with Rep-G version I have ?
Are the parameters Not changing because I'm using Slic3r 0.X instead of Skeinforge ?
Okay, by installing Python version 2.7.10, I can now access the Skeinforge slicer setup, in Rep-G ![]()
Must have been conflict with older version of Rep-G and new version of Python.
Will now see if that helps with other problems.
Note: there sure are a lot More setting options in the Skeinforge slicer,
to Get Confused About ! LOL ![]()
No I'm Not Confused, I just Look that Way ! LOL ![]()
Still can not figure out Where Makerbot-3.7 software stores profile settings data ??
Must be in Windows Registry
?
I will try to find it there next.
I wish I could solve problems with it,
then there would be no need to use Rep-G , which is not as easy to use.
I have not played around with makerbot desktop much yet. I might dig into it and let you know what I find. What type of settings are you looking for on it?

I've not been using Makerbot software when printing objects that have first layers wider than 70mm.
Since I found that, if larger than that, it will not print All of first layers before doing other layers.
So, it prints 3rd or 4th layers Way Above the Bed-plate, at one side of object.
Only happens with Makerbot,
can use Same .stl files, in Rep-G, with no problems.
It acts like something is running out of memory space for each layers data,
but don't really know what is causing it ??
I know it's not a hardware problem, also, since Rep-G works.
So just to be clear if I where to print a 90 by 90 box say 30 tall then part of the first layer should print then it will try to print 3rd and 4th layers at one point in the model before completing the rest of the first layer?
I am still waiting for my extruder upgrade parts. They are in the US now and hopefully will get them by the weekend. If so I will get it back together and try that with mine.
One thing I have noticed is that mine has firmware that is unique to it. It only was set for one extruder originally when I connected to RepG, it will not work with any version of Windows but XP, and mine is all metal. So even though it is a CTC it seems there may be multiple companies making CTC printers.

Correct, the larger the objects first layers are , the smaller percentage of them will be printed,
before going to other layers.
It's sort of a Stair-step results on layers.
Has Anyone seen this 'Stair-step' print problem before ???
Surely I'm not the Only one using Makerbot-3.7 ! ![]()

Only a few of us are using makerbot period. This has never been a makerbot forum since they are proprietary. Until the clones like FF and CTC came out nothing about makerbot was heard here. I think last count including you and I there are only three active posters for the CTC model.
I use version 2.2 becauae my model will only work on XP due to the current firmware. So I may not be able to replicate your issue.

Oh well, maybe a 4.0 version will be released Soon ! LOL ![]()
I would be willing to Buy it , if Everything Works !
I searched the Makerbot forums, I could find, but found Nothing about that. ![]()
Note: I need to learn more about editing Rep-G anyway
I use version 2.2 because my model will only work on XP due to the current firmware.
BTW: I know that Makerbot-2.4 will work with both W-7 and W-10,
but have not tried 2.2.
Can't you upgrade the Firmware in printer ??
Seems like that would be easier than going to new PC-board ?

Probably going to use Sailfish so I can use regular host and STL files.

Yes, I'm reading Good reviews about Sailfish ![]()
Wow, there are a *Lot* of different versions of Sailfish to choose from. ![]()
I suppose it mainly depends on which Revision of Mightyboard you have,
as to which Sailfish version to choose ??
I could Not find a Revision or Part number on the Mightyboard in our printer . ![]()
It may be on top side but not on component side of PC-board.
It did Not even have a Manufacturers name on that side,
and I'm not going to remove board just to look at top side. LOL ![]()
Note: PC-Board does look different than those I've seen on eBay
Go to Flashforges website. They sell boards for 180 and are US based. Their boards look exactly like mine.
The Flashforge was the first Makerbot clone. Then I think CTC actually cloned the Flashforge rather than the Makerbot. I also still have not seen another CTC like my all metal one.

I was Only trying to find Info about the board in Our printer Now,
without that I would not know what to get as replacement or for a Firmware change ?
I found a board with Wanhao name on it, that looks similar, but may not be exactly the same.
Wanhao board is similar to Flashforge board Also, but not exactly.
Must be just a different Revision of same board.
Also trying to find more info about Revision Numbers.
I've seen them from A to E

That's what I am trying to say. The mightyboard is not the same as what we have. The board that is in the flashforge however is identical to mine at least. As far as I can tell the only difference between the real mightyboard and ours was a change in the layout where the power switch was removed and power input was moved to a different side of the board. Pinouts otherwise are the same. The difference between the clone flavors is rather the RGB LED circuit is installed, and if the two EXTRA FETS are installed for driving fans or light strips.
As for the versions of Sailfish, any version will work on any rev board to my knowledge. The issue you run in to is if you choose to continue to use RepG. Then you must use the version of Sailfish that was made just for RepG and you must use a special version of RepG as well.

Don't all those companies call it the Mightyboard ? ( Makerbot, Flashforge, CTC, Wanhao, etc.)
I read that one difference in revisions was also difference in type of FETs used,
and stuff like that cause SMOKE if not correct !
According to Sailfish website, board revision must be matched to Sailfish version ??
If Sailfish won't work with the Rep-G I Have, I don't think I would want to change to it ![]()
Don't Need Another complication ! ![]()
I think you need to get a CTC firmware Upgrade, if possible ?

This thread is by the only other owner besides you and myself of a CTC. It is a good read if you have not read it and has a lot of information in it.

Thanks for the link.
Some very Good Info there,
but I saw nothing about the differend Mightyboard revision models,
and nothing about the software and firmware compatibility ? That we were talking about.
The Flashforge Manual , .pdf file download link, has great Info also. ![]()
I need to study that Manual More. (Appears to have some info about various software)
I sure wish I had known about that Manual 2 months ago,
since I had to learn most of that the 'Hard Way'. ![]()
Our CTC came with No documentation. ![]()

Mine had a manual on the SDcard.. But it was not as good as the one the Flashforge has.
By the way have you been by here regarding sailfish?
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:32084
I also found out that Simplify3D will drive my CTC directly and exports to X3G if you want to use the SDcard for printing or send the file to Makerbot Desktop.
By the way have you been by here regarding sailfish?
Yes, I had downloaded it already, but I think I will let You try it before I Do ! LOL ![]()
I've got Too many other problems right now to even think about changing firmware in ours.
and I doubt changing firmware would fix the Other problems.
I found the Rep-G will not print objects correctly when set to Skeinforge-50 profile. ![]()
It just prints garbage, that is nothing like it should be ! ![]()
Had to go back to Slic3r profile to get it to work.
I first need to find out why larger objects print in the 'Stair-step' pattern with Makerbot-3.7.
That's the software I prefer to use, since it is Fast and easy, if I could find a solution to this problem ??
I just printed an object that is 80 x 120mm wide and one side was 5 layers higher than opposite side. ![]()
I found that by quickly raising one side of bed-plate, after print is started, I can usually get them to complete.
Have to wait until after it starts, since you never know which side will be Low and which side High, before it starts, unless you have printed that file before.
