Hi!

Firstable, if i understood well, no one suceeded without the USBtinyISP, didn't you?

I succeded without the programmer, I followed this guide: http://support.solidoodle.com/hc/en-us/ … otherboard and tweak the SolidoodlePress_AT90_firmware_upload_USB.cmd so it uploaded my file. But that only works with windows.

But when i flashed it with SolidoodlePress_Latest_FW_E3D_Ready.cpp.hex I had a problem with the G29 (Auto-bed leveling), I don't know if it was a firmware issue or a flashing issue

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

For the windows part it was well understood big_smile! Anyway i only have windows devices.

I've read this page but i thank this was for an update provided by solidoodle!
What sort of tweaks did you needed to do so it upload the right file? Reading the file i bet it's just changing "SolidoodlePress_03232015.cpp.hex" to the new one?

I didn't read any of this problem in this forum at least, check if there are a newer version maybe, or maybe you fixed it another way?

Maybe i'll try this, anyway it seem i'll need to go buy some jumper.

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Willthewill this should help with avrdude http://www.ladyada.net/learn/avr/avrdude.html, if you dicide to go that route. Good luck:)

Jandoms, wow this is indeed helping very much to understand the process! Thanks!

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Hey, question about the direct drive setup. How do you home z? did you attach the probe somewhere? I also heard there is a z limit switch at the bottom. can that be used to home z?

Thanks!

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Hey!
Whan i try to assemble the stepper motor with the printed part, the gear isn't well placed and will not extrude anything like this! http://soliforum.com/i/?DsWKazC.jpg

Did i miss something?

457

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

The gear has a retaining grub screw that holds it to the motor shaft. Loosen it, align with the filament/hotend path, then tighten into place.

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

458

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Perfect! I somehow manage to loosen it and tighten it but don't think i have the right tool for it. Is it a hex screw?

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

E3d installed and all clear, firmware already flashed ( hid bootloader ).
But like bubblefrog, autolevelling don't work.
Any idea?

EDIT: I searched a little and found the problem, here is the gcode i have when i slice:

"M100
G21
G90
G28 X0 Y0
G29
G1 Z15 F4800
G1 Y5 F4800
G1 X5 F4800
G29
G21 ; set units to millimeters
G90 ; use absolute coordinates
M82 ; use absolute distances for extrusion
G92 E0"

G1 Z15 F4800 ,G1 Y5 F4800 ,G1 X5 F4800 seemed to be in cause, when i delete them, it can launch g29 and everything is fine.

DO you know how do i suppress  them so i don't have to do it manually everytime?

460

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

You have to home g1 x0 y0 just before any g29 level. Any movement after home kills a later g29. So the second g29 fails because of the g1 z15... in front. Look in slic3r for the code added before each print, find these extra codes and simply remove them. Home and level by themselves is fine.

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Thanks! As g28 already home my printer, i'll simply delete them:

"M100
G21
G90
G28 X0 Y0
G29"

All better now! Thanks!

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Just ordered mine, looking forward to installing it. Earlier today, all the wires on the stock hot end broke off since I had to take it apart so many times to clean it. Hopefully this will turn this paperweight into a useful machine.

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Hello guys

Is it my understanding (from reading the E3D v6 lite page) that when using the Lite v6 to do this mod, it would no longer be necessary to flash the firmware? (since it runs at a lower temperature anyways)

V6 vs V6 Lite, really the only thing I can see is supported temps

Regards,

464

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

You still need to flash firmware since it uses a different thermistor.

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Thank you elmoret.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the order from your site! (to canada!)

Looking to order these two items

http://www.filastruder.com/products/all … -v6-hotend

http://www.filastruder.com/products/sol … ect-bowden

Are there any other items I need? (spring or nuts for example, or even any bearings)

Additionally do I need these  (link below) or more plastic guide for the bowden setup or do these  items come with your kit above?

Bowden couplings
http://www.filastruder.com/collections/ … ded-1-75mm

I was hoping you had a link to a full kit to do the upgrade - alas i didn't find anything like that or at least anything that listed what I think I've seen is needed.

Please let me know what else would be needed to go from stock
I have the AVR flasher and a temp spool holder

Best,

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

The bowden version hotends come with 750mm of PTFE tube (I think you're referring to this as "guide plastic").

I'm not sure how to answer your other questions as it depends a bit on how you plan to set things up. Someone with a Press might be able to advise better.

Thanks for the answer.

I want to have a similar setup to Macgyver had in his original bowden motor mount design, with the PTFE tubing going up into the Press spool area. Like this http://mlabs.us/public//ZZ7112B9B0.jpg

I see that for this item, http://www.filastruder.com/products/sol … ect-bowden

It doesnt say if it comes with the required spring/bearing for this setup (spring need to compress/release the filament as well as the mounts for the PTFE tubing)

http://mlabs.us/public//ZZ641ADE0E.jpg (Sprint seen here and bearing seen here)
http://mlabs.us/public//ZZ57B5C375.jpg (mounts for PTFE tubing as seen here)

Can you or someone please confirm so I can make the purchase for both the V6 25Watt and the Press Kit

Also have my eye on that Filament maker you guys have. Beastly so gonna do my research for that. I like.

Thanks again for the help

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

The mount is just the printed parts, nothing more. It is up to the end user to get the spring/bearing as needed.

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

found all necessary info to build this here

Also, if you don't want to 3d print the bowden portion, and just want the setup (spring, etc for much cheaper)

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

A note to whoever is printing the Bowden parts... The hole for the extruder was so tight, that I can't push it through by hand and, of course, the motor can not turn it in there with all that friction. I'm going to see what drill bits or dremel ends I have around to open this up a bit.

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Almost working! Filament is coming out of the extruder finally.

However, I am getting screwed up while trying to print. I have these commands at the start of the print:

G21
G90
G28 X0 Y0
G29
G92 E0

(RH, curaengine)

This is the result: Z never gets homed. Is this a software, firmware, or wiring issue?

472

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Any luck on a Direct drive version?

473

Re: E3Dv6 on Solidoodle Press

Direct drive version is already possible. read the links I posted above for parts instruction though with some drawbacks

Filastruder crew, do you guys sell PFTE tubing?

I thought this came with one of the kits, but i guess not. Just wondering what type/spec I should buy for the bowden setup.

Same problem? What did you do where you can't home Z? On the direct drive setup nothing changes.
