I think the consensus on that is 40 days in advance...seems to be the sweet spot...
To add insult to injury for those (im)patiently waiting on their new Doodles, I present this.

Well, I gotta say, they got me on the sale. I think it's hard to turn down an opportunity like that.
6-8 weeks starting now. good luck and god speed to everyone else waiting for a workbench.
I think the first person to get their 3d printer should buy a round for everyone who's waiting....
im in for ordered the press on 8th aug waiting to death
Looks as though we'll have a bit more to talk about in 24 hours or so
tell them to deduct it from your order since its still at their shop
I sent their accounting department an email. I don't expect anything to actually happen, though.
Dont know the usa laws, but here in EU, it not legel to transfer the monyefrom custermer bank before the ordre is packed/sent.
Did anyone check their booth out at the Makerfaire today? Am really interested in how their booth looks with the new models.
so is the -$200 on Apprentice workbench too? thats same price as SD 1 was. hope Santa grabs me one ;^P
anyone here use duel extruder set up? can I use slicer settings from single extruder and G-code just separates out support material from it for extruder #2 or do I have to make all new slicer settings in a proprietorial slicer version?
I was at the Makerfaire in NYC. Solidoodle was there with all three models. I was able to get some pictures of all the printers.
The Press was not working correctly. Seems like they were having issues with it at the time. The other two where printing.
I spoke to Sam for a little bit. He seems to be a really nice guy. Was very excited about talking about the new printers.
From what I gathered the 'bed leveler' function is completely automatic on the Press. But requires end-user interaction on the WB and the WBA.
I asked some technical questions, but got the same answers that has already been posted here.
The extruder for the Workbench and the Apprentice seemed to be identical. They look exactly like the SD4's (but reversed for the left hotend.)
And as a side note, I apologize for some of the images. Some of the framing is not correct and the focus it not dead on. Alot of people walked in front of me while I was taking these images. I had to make do.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
Anyway, Enjoy!

Thank you for the pictures
Now to my question, did you see any prints done by the press? if so, how was the quality?
Unfortunately no. As I stated. The press was not working and they were having issues with it.
They had a pile of prints, but I could not tell you which came from what printer. Most likely printed prior to the event.
I see the Aprentice no longer has the bridge cooling fan duct/mount in front of the hot ends as pictured on their site. also glass bed uses same clips we do so less than full print surface available.
did they not allow pics of back of machines still?
If they had problems whit the press what kind of problem ? And I realy hope they fixing that before shipping
on the Press for a min at 1st pics I thought they had made a new design for filament spools to feed from center of spool like a drain snake cable for easier delivery free of binding or unraveling. that would have been genius. then spools on all printers could lay flat on top of printers and feed to center of print area.
then further pics showed how it twists around from outside edge to get inside. not so smart ;^(
a spool box like plumbers drain cables use could be stacked and even multi extruders fed through center holes with guide rings to separate them from tangling (guides would look similar to a round ceiling air diffuser vent register in commercial HVAC duct but without the dividers of each ring being in path of filament for other guide rings by being 3D printed in 1 piece). or some type of tube near center of hole to guide each filament through just thinking outside the box.
Has anyone gotten their's yet??

yes Sam dont look real happy about it in pics
n2ri, That would mean that the spool would unroll on the inter diameter vs. the outer diameter (like it is with all other spools) which would warrant the spool redesign. But in this case, Its just a shorter spool (in height) so it could fit inside the machine laying flat.
As for Sam, He was pleasant when I was talking to him, But to have a unit (the Press) you are about to sell fail on display. I can imagine he would not be happy. Mind you this was on Saturday. The 2 times I went back after that it was still not working (On saturday). Dunno if it was working on Sunday.
As for what was wrong with it, I don't know exactly. When I got to the 'booth' he/they started a print and it was trying to over extend the gantry and made the sound that makes us all cringe. (when the belt skips over the gt2 gear).
well even Bill Gates had some world wide fails during shows lol. after all what are machines but fails waiting to happen.
As for pictures of the rear of the machines, I didn't want to press my luck. I simply asked permission to take pictures and rolled with it.
n2ri, I just took a look at the WB & WBA on the SD site, The extruder looks the same (to me)

Thanks for the photos; brilliant to see some kind of progress happening after a lot of silence.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed they manage to iron out the niggles with the Press over the next couple of weeks
