Re: Introducing Three New Solidoodle Models

I am new to this forum, but since I am looking into getting the workbench I though it would be a good idea to join.  I have talked to solidoodle and they say that they have only tested PLA and ABS, and dont warranty more exotic filaments. Has any one tried to print nylon or ninjaflex or even polycarbonate on their solidoodle printers with any success?

Thanks guys

Re: Introducing Three New Solidoodle Models

Many users have printed with more exotic filaments.  Most of them use an E3d hot end but since the new Press seems to be coming with SD's version of an all metal hot end I really don't see why they wouldn't handle different filaments as its mostly temperature related.  The old style PEEK hot ends couldn't handle the higher temps required.  Unfortunately SD hasn't adopted the all metal hot end on the workbench platform so you'll have to look into upgrading to an all metal hot end like the E3d.

It can be purchased from http://www.filastruder.com/products/all … -v6-hotend
You will need a different mount and some tweaks to the firmware.  You will want to take a look at the WIKI even though that is outdated the firmware part is pretty much the same.
The mount is something that can be printed from ABS and although I haven't seen one yet I am certain someone will design something fairly quickly.

If you search E3d you will find more information than you need.
