Congrats on the awesome birthday present, Baron! what a great mom!
Our 2020 Prusa i3 kit arrived yesterday! YAY! and let me tell ya, it was difficult for me to not rip the box open right away - but I didn't, I let the other half open it up when he got home and start sorting thru the stuff.
We sat down last night and went thru the build guide and all the pieces/parts, taking inventory to make sure everything was there, bagging and marking all the screws, nuts and other hardware, and guess what? there are 2 very important pieces missing! the M5 threaded Z rods were not in the box!
so email was sent off to Folgertech late last night. As of this moment there hasn't been a response yet, but they haven't opened for the day yet, either.... so we shall see.
In the meantime, the other half has found some M5 threaded rod locally (shock of shocks in this small town!) but we need to make sure it is of the correct pitch before purchasing (if needed)...gonna wait and see what Folgertech says before doing anything.
Overall, despite the missing Z rods, the kit looks pretty good. Printed parts look decent, although I suspect they are PLA (shiny) and not very dense - compared one of my test PLA lawsy carriages to one of their pieces of a similar size - mine is definitely heavier.
The nice thing is they make the STLs for the printed parts readily available, so I see some high density ABS parts being printed out in the very near future (starting today? LOL) we are thinking of making this one in Lime Green.
(the SD4 is purple & yellow) yeah, black is boring! LOL
The motors in this kit are nice - pretty impressive if the markings are correct - 50oz/in of holding torque - on the smaller ones.
Kinda of looking forward to starting assembly - don't need the threaded rods right away so I can easily start on the base and get the ball rolling...
