Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle (Page 4 of 5)

Your support has been 1000x better than Solidoodles

I know if I end up going the DIY route to fix all these issues that I'll find plenty of help here on the forums, but I was really hoping to not have to do this kind of stuff just to get a brand new printer up and running. As an engineering student, I really don't have much free time these days and I don't know when I would ever find the time to completely reassemble this printer. But the lawsy carriage mod seems like something I would have liked to do down the line anyway, so it's not the end of the world if I have to go that route.

Ideally I would like Solidoodle to just send me a working printer free from defects. Is that too much to ask?

this is making me thrilled knowing i sent mine back to solidoodle to fix the fing board. But at this point i have to say Nachieyvo (sp) which is basicly the english translation for a russain word that means fuck it it can't be helped. if i get my printer back anytime soon i'll help you too and ward i'd be interested in seeing stl's for those upgraded carriages you spoke of. I downloaded lawsey's but if yours are better...

You have the right idea with resting them on the bed. It's not so important that they are level, but more important that they are parallel with the bed - since SoliTouch will compensate for the bed being potentially unlevel.

Alternatively, you can adjust the bed to match the extruders instead of adjusting the extruders to match the bed. IMO, it's easier to turn a few wingnuts rather than loosen the barrels and attempt to move them precisely.

I have the same problem with my extruders and I am seeing that is crashing my printing.
Who know how fix that?

One hour later and I am hoping to see some positive results.

SoliPrint isn't configured correctly for the Workbench Apprentice. It thinks the print center is at 100,100. It should be at 75,75 since the bed is 150x150. When the z-offset calibration runs, the last line prints right on the edge of the plate and the number gets printing off the plate.

For you guys that were suggesting upgrading to lawsy carriages, are the ones on thingiverse compatible with the dual extruders that the Workbench Apprentice has?

Finally received a response from Solidoodle. Only took them 5 days.

Once they get the response time to <24 hours, then that would be close to World Class Customer Service...

I've contacted them more times than I can count. Some of them have been issues and others just general questions. The majority of the time they get back to me within 48 hours. A few times they had gotten back to me the same day. Several other times it took 5+ days to get a response. But my opinion of their customer service is not based solely on their response time.

The printer in question by the OP is a Workbench Apprentice not a Press.
