Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

Solidoodle is quite possibly the least competent company I have ever dealt with.

Had a SD3 a couple years ago and was reasonably pleased with the product. But the blunders of getting it and the following service was so bad that I doubt I will ever be a customer again.

I know several people looking to purchase 3D printers, including a teacher looking to purchase several for her school, who wanted my review on the Apprentice after I got it. I've since had to make recommendations for other companies and printers because I would never want to put them through what I'm going through now.

"We have no quality, and we have no control".

So I'll keep my SD4 and keep upgrading it, but is there a recommendation for an <$1K printer that'll use my 1.75 filament and be reasonably functional and reliable?  Assuming this is the appropriate venue for such a query...

Thanks!

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

My workbench is due to ship next week.  Even after waiting this long, I'm considering cancelling.  It kind of bothers me that SD didn't have soliryan post something in here.  I have over $300 in parts ordered to replace things i'm expecting to be wrong on my brand new printer.  They refuse to send me stl's to print my own replacement parts.  I have buyers remorse, and i dont have my printer yet.

Sucks.

Of course I know what I'm doing.  I googled it.

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

chancrescolex,

I have two SD printer, SD3 & Workbench since 2 two years ago with my SD3, I'm from Colombia, Medellín. they sent me to international shipping and now I don´t have "any problem" different a the normal calibration. They have a problem with the support because the answer is low and sometimes is bad. But the problem that you have is very bad and worrying because they send you not a new product. If you want to recommend Solidoodle first they have to do a new product to you.

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

So when Solidoodle was closing my open tickets, they were just consolidating them so that they could respond to all my open issues in one ticket (they didn't mention that at first). They acknowledged the oversight and confirmed I was sent a returned printer. They are going to RMA this one and send me a replacement. Hopefully all goes well.

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

if they are going to pull that what is to stop them from doing a repair removing the sticker and sending the same printer back or swapping it with a another return.  If you do return it engrave your initals on the bottom to  let you know if they send the same one back.

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

I went through exactly the same process you are now, up to days before receiving my printer. I finally decided that trying to get a refund would take even longer than it did to get my printer. At this point, the reasons I bought THIS printer over others are still valid. I have been somewhat surprised by the results of the stock set-up. You may be able to save some money sending (some) of that stuff back once you see it run.

Don't get me wrong, I would not say I am exactly "happy" with my experience with Solidoodle. Once I got my machine, I am much closer. Hang in there, waiting a little longer is better than the alternative of trying to get your money back and going out and trying to buy something else all over again.

Hi all,
Sorry for my delayed response. I am out of the office this week so I am just reading all of this now. I will definitely be looking into this and notifying others of it when I am back in the office.

Former Solidoodle employee, no longer associated with the company.

We shall see Morganism.  I'm an e3d guy.  It's going to be hard to sway me.  I need to print HIPS too, so it will likely end up modded.

Of course I know what I'm doing.  I googled it.

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

Solidoodle agreed to exchange the printer for a new one, so I shipped it back on Thursday. I just received the "new" one in the mail today. It's the same fucking printer.

Unbelievable.

Seriously!!! was the box even opened up on the other end?  Did you put your own mark on it to verify even though it had the school bar code sticker on it?

The box was repackaged. They included the components that I was missing originally. They also fixed the fan that was broken. However, the school barcode is still on the back of the printer and the serial number is the same.

I guess I'll wait another 2+ days for a response from their support.

The directions on the RMA, that were written by the support person who filled it out, said "Customer returning printer for an exchange."

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

You need to insist that they follow through on this.  You paid for a new printer and that is what you should get.
Unfortunately we don't have any real pull with Solidoodle.  I can say that as a long time customer and supporter, this is absolutely not acceptable.

Re: Need advice on how to handle a situation with Solidoodle

Hello Jared,

I too am frustrated at this development.

I had instructed them to ship you out a new one.

I have gone ahead and escalated this matter to my supervisor.

We will of course offer you an exchange printer and a $50 refund on top of this.

Would this be acceptable to you?

I hope you give us the chance to make this right for you.

I apologize for this poor experience.

Best regards,
Francisco
