Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

You most likely have that file in the wrong folder review steps 24 & 25.  I recently updated the WIKI with those instructions so would you please take notes of the issues and solutions?  I would like to add them as comments to the instructions.

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

I retried it all from the top twice, I'm getting the same thing. I'm confused about what to type in cmd, I've been doing "C:\Users\Bryce\Desktop\BootloaderHID\hid_bootloader_cli -mmcu=at90usb1286 -w -v Marlin.cpp.hex" Is that correct if I unzipped bootloaderHID to desktop?

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

So you are hung up in steps (roughly 20-25)?
First thing is did you create and move from the hidden files the new Marlin.cpp.hex into the BootloaderHID folder on your desktop?

I am confused as to what you think the connection is?  Further more there are topics discussing the advertising and issues with Amazon.  Wouldn't that be a more appropriate location for this post?

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

sorryposted the wrong link

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_ … 3d+hot+end

my point is amazon is carrying the E3D hotend for about 20 bucks more than is on the filastruder website and was makign a back handed joke at amazon ripping people off

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

Definitely makes more sense with the proper link.  I doubt that was the issue though as if that were their concern it would make more sense to contact Filastruder to sell them on Amazon.
After all the actual seller is not Amazon, it's MatterHackers.

Yes I moved it to the bootloaderHID folder, and I'm pretty sure I'm typing it in CMD right, it just keeps saying "error reading intel hex file "Marlin.cpp.hex."
The only thing different than your directions is that when I go to sketch-verify I do not get a popup from teensy, it just comes up with byte size fairly quickly.

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

What file are you grabbing from the build folder? I had the same problem because I was grabbing the wrong file.

If the teensy window isn't popping up after verifying/compiling you probably don't have the right board selected. Did you download and install the teensy add-on?

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

Sorry I never posted back here but I got it to work. What was wrong was that I needed to type out the full file path to the .hex file after the hid_bootloader_cli -mmcu=at90usb1286 -w -v command. I never did get a popup from teensy and I did have the right board selected. It's working fine now so I guess the teensy thing isn't an issue.

Re: E3D extruder upgrade help

Well glad you got it working! If you use the PWM fan, make sure to set that pin for 16 or it may not work if you have the printrbot board. It's in the Pins.h file.
