Topic: Slic3r settings for Z-lift?

the
avoid crossing perimeters setting does NOT lift Z (extruder) as many here have posted. all it does is use a defferent path when moving to avoid last layer laid. no Z height changes ever. so it still hits some detail parts knocking them loose.

small parts tend to curl while cooling putting them up into path of extruder.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Re: Slic3r settings for Z-lift?

Your right, Z-lift is the setting that actually lifts the Z axis.

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL

Re: Slic3r settings for Z-lift?

if you mean in printer settings. isnt that permanent/fixed setting? it dont say its associated with the avoid perimeters box in printing tab. wait just saw when hovering over it. when retraction is triggered. so whats a good hieght? .1-.3mm

Re: Slic3r settings for Z-lift?

It is in the Slic3r Configuration, "Printer Settings" tab; under "Extruder 1" option...in the Retraction area...this will drop the Z axis by whatever you specify for any non-printing / retraction moves.  It is called "Lift" as it origins are for milling machines where the spindle is the Z axis...

EDIT:  Just saw your edit...I tried my SD2 at .5 for .3 Layer Thickness and it worked pretty well...try some different values and see what works for you.

SD2 - Stock - Enclosure - Heated Bed - Glass Plate - Auto Fire Extinguisher
Ord Bot Hadron - RAMPS 1.4 - Bulldog XL - E3D v6 - 10" x 10" PCB Heated Build w/SSR - Glass Plate
