Topic: Help Please - Bed auto pid and RH bed output graph not working

I just got over my fear of updating firmware on my old Sanuinololu 1.3 for my SD3 and I thought I would be able to do these two things without too much trouble but I haven't had any luck as far as UTFSE goes - please help if you can.

I thought that I'd be able to see the bed output graph in RH if I updated my firmware but apparently I was wrong.  I half recall needing to do something to the board beyond just changes in the firmware but dont know what.  What do I need to do to see the bed output graph in RH?   I'm using the firmware from this post in the RUMBA thread: http://www.soliforum.com/post/58149/#p58149.

I'm also having a problem autotuning my bed heater which is something I've wanted to do for a long time now but was scared of the firmware process.  Now that I'm getting over that and have enabled the "define PIDTEMPBED" and "BED_LIMIT_SWITCHING" the command M303 E-1 C8 S90 heats the extruder instead of the bed.  What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks guys,
Jake

PS - how do you add the "help please" and/or "solved" tags to a thread title?

Re: Help Please - Bed auto pid and RH bed output graph not working

It looks like I haven't made it past the original bootloader yet.  Off to order more parts from sparkfun.  Going to upgrade to 1284p while I'm at it.  I have a RUMBA and new power supply ready to install but wanted to play with the firmware and get my mounting options situated before doing so.  Besides, it'll be nice to keep a backup board around.

Which bootloader is recommended?

Anyone have any quick tips for setting up an Arduino ISP to burn the bootloader?

EDIT - apparently neither sparkfun nor adafruit carry the 1284p anymore but digikey of course does.

Re: Help Please - Bed auto pid and RH bed output graph not working

Well - UTFSE finally worked out and I found the exact same problem in an earlier post: http://www.soliforum.com/post/30331/#p30331.

I'm currently attempting that solution but I still have a couple of unanswered questions:

What bootloader did the SD3 with Sang 1.3a originally ship with?

What bootloader is currently recommended for the old Sang 1.3a?

What bootloader is recommended for the RUMBA?

Thanks

You have a Rumba and your messing with an older Sang?  I like the Sang boards but you won't have to mess with boot loaders with the Rumba.  Just pull the latest firmware update from GitHub make any changes to configuration.h you want.  Verify, Save, Upload.  It's that simple!

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL

+1 it was so very easy. Firmware's already running on my RUMBA and I haven't got around to wiring it in even! Trust me to start with the easy bits haha...

True - but I still have to situate the wiring and new power supply and strangely enough, dealing with the bootloader seems like the smaller of the two projects.  Since I have the opportunity, I would also like to keep the Sang as a backup board.

Also, I haven't reread the RUMBA setup thread recently to see what the typical hurdles are to getting it actually up and running.

The biggest hurdle will be mounting it wink  Seriously it is so simple you'll be amazed.
