I have a suggestion for your first print, too.  New carriages.  In any other color.

I've figured that if I ever sell mine I would print new carriages in black or some neutral color because not everyone would like the lime green and blue that I've got going on.  Hopefully you got a deal on the pink, haha.

Re: gaaah! she's all screwed up! HELP! solidoodle 3

ok, so do I have to heat the extruder to remove the filament?  it is just a small piece the the seller cut from the roll to be able to pack the two filament rolls that came with it , the piece of filament sticking out of the extruder is really just like 10 inches long

Re: gaaah! she's all screwed up! HELP! solidoodle 3

I would heat it up and remove it.  One less thing in your way.

I had a little fun on this one big_smile
The two red circles are the screws that anchor the extruder and motor to the carriage. Remove those then you will just have 4 screws that anchor the "center top" to the front and rear bearing holders. Remove those, then rotate the top part 180 degrees.
Simply put everything back together as you took it apart and you are good!

ok, I'll work on it tonight
thanks for the help thus far,  there is no possible way I would have figured out a backwards part!
seller blames me, says I screwed it up somehow because it "worked fine" when he sold it, I guess UPS must have opened it and put the part on backwards then LOL

The important thing is you got it figured out.  Get it all working and don't worry about what the seller claims.  Clearly the seller knew just enough to be dangerious.  You will most certainly come upon other problems and when you do you'll be smart enough to ask for help.  We are all here to help.  Remember this... If it isn't fun walk away.  Eventually you will have as much fun working, hacking and modding your printer as you will actually printing things.

Re: gaaah! she's all screwed up! HELP! solidoodle 3

ok, took it apart and spun the part around and while i had it apart i cleaned all the old white glops of grease off the bearings and rails and put on new grease, now it moves way easier! odd how a thin film lets it move easier than a ton of grease, put the belt back on and i am gonna try it later on today when i get some time
i was going to take the rails out and clean out the bearings but the rods seem to be glued in, there are screw holes underneath but no screws

Next to no grease is best.  The rods are most likely just pressed in and they are tight.  There isn't any real reason to pull them out.
Stick with it you'll be happy you did.

Make sure you take a REALLY good look at the diagrams on Lawsy's thingiverse page before you put it back together.  I'm not sure what you mean by "spun the part around" but in addition to having the carriage facing the right way, the bearing holders are also specific to the front and rear.  The holes are close, but not the same, so if you are forcing it then you are doing it wrong.  If you do it wrong, you won't be able to add a fan duct later if you choose to do so.

Also, I'm not sure if you have the M3 nuts in the top carriage or not but consider adding a drop of glue to each one if you use the nuts instead of just threading the long bolts.  Without this, the nut will just spin when you try to take it off, adding more frustration.

Just to add to this... You can just pop the bearing holders off the bearings and swap them to get things to line up properly.

Re: gaaah! she's all screwed up! HELP! solidoodle 3

reversing the part fixed it! it now travels in the right direction and homes perfectly on all 3 axis!
a quick question to, it seems the bearings in my extruder fan are going out because it buzzes and rattles until I tap on it several times to knock it into running right
what size and brand fan should I use?

Re: gaaah! she's all screwed up! HELP! solidoodle 3

Those are cheap fans so anything with the correct dimensions will work.  Is it missing any blades?  I printed and replaced the blade on mine and now it runs smoothly.

You can print a replacement for sure.
if you prefer to buy, look up 30mm Evercool fan on Amazon. I;ve run hundreds of hours with them without a single problem.
FYI...if you choose to buy said brand, they come with a 3 pin (and wire) connector.

the fan on it now is not missing any blades, it just sounds worn out
I wound up buying a
Noctua 40x10mm fan on amazon, it seems to be a good one and should fit, I hope
