Topic: m999 error?

it says to use m999 to restart. what does that mean and how do i use this?
before that it says it hit max temp. i just bought a solidoodle 2 from my cousin and he said it has an e3d on it. it looks like what is online, so i dont think he was lying. did he swindle me? can it be fixed?

Re: m999 error?

I'm having the same problem because I did not update the firware. Either your cousin was lazy, couldn't understand the walkthrough, or had problems like I am going through.

I don't think he ripped you off. But if he did, is he within arm's reach? big_smile
I get the same notifications from time to time; more often than others. Can you print? If so, how far can you get through before it fails?

Re: m999 error?

Here is the wiki on the E3D ---> http://www.soliwiki.com/E3D_extruder since the mounting and install is al done the rest is easy smile just go to the firmware/software section and got for it!!! there may be differences depending on which thermistor he installed in the hotend but the main thing is to change the MAX temperature the printer gets - this will fix the M999 and overtemp error.

Wouldn't that depend on his board? If he has a Printrboard like I do, I've been told I need to use a separate program or a different course of action: http://www.soliforum.com/topic/4520/e3d … 3-fw-help/

Re: m999 error?

While the SD boards do have multiple different ways to upload f/w's it is not impossible... it helps if you have some electronic/programming experience. There is a ton of reference material out there for programming arduino chips and the common pitfalls involved with each design so it really isn't that hard smile just a bit of research can save hours of frustration when doing something new to yourself.

The OP didn't really get to many details out there for us to help out with... some screen shots would be nice smile maybe one of the error log and one of the temp graph... could be he just needs to autotune the pid's for the extruder to take care of the M999 error without even doing the f/w update... because if his cousin did not change the pid's then there will certainly be some jumping around on the temps which will cause overtemp alerts.
