There is a ton of reference material out there for programming arduino chips and the common pitfalls involved with each design so it really isn't that hard smile just a bit of research can save hours of frustration when doing something new to yourself.

The OP didn't really get to many details out there for us to help out with... some screen shots would be nice smile maybe one of the error log and one of the temp graph... could be he just needs to autotune the pid's for the extruder to take care of the M999 error without even doing the f/w update... because if his cousin did not change the pid's then there will certainly be some jumping around on the temps which will cause overtemp alerts.

I get the same notifications from time to time; more often than others. Can you print? If so, how far can you get through before it fails?
