Topic: Thermistor repair

I received my solidoodle 3 today and after unpacking according to the instructions I noticed that a wire to the thermistor was hanging free as in the picture. Can anyone provide instructions as to how to repair as I am DOA until this is fixed.  I sent an email to solidoodle support but I have not heard back yet and I would really like to print a test at least.

Thanks,
Kevin Newsom

Re-posted the picture for you.

Looks like you will need a new one.
You can get them pretty cheap on eBay if you don't feel like waiting for solidoodle technical support.

Re: Thermistor repair

I did not post anything earlier.  Is there a specific model I can look for on eBay and how hard is it to get everything back together?  Also since the wire is loose can I just solder it back on?

Re: Thermistor repair

The link that I posted above the picture is to an ebay item that is the direct replacement from the thermistor.

That looks like it broke at the glass. I wouldn't suggest soldering that back together. The hotend gets to roughly 235C ... might be hot enough to remelt the solder. I think replacement is your best option.

If you slide the black heat shrink off you can get a better look at where the thermistor is broken.
