Topic: Layers not sticking

New SD3 just arrived to today and the biggest issue thus far is that the layers are not sticking together. When the object is complete I can easily peel the layers apart.

I configured the printer according to the out-of-box Solidoodle instructions. After reading through a variety of forums it seems as though the issue could be temperature and/or flow rate related. Any quick tips on what to experiment with next?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Layers not sticking

First Calibrate your extruder. Search and you'll find threads here and procedures on the Solidoodle Wiki for....
1) Calibration of your filament diameter (micrometer measurement is needed, but a nominal guess might work)
2) Calibration of your extruder feed rate (length measure needed of actual vs. expected)
3) Calibration of your filament flow rate (single wall thickness micrometer needed)

If there's still a need, then tuning might be in order on extruder temperature.
There are discussion threads around this as well, but generally don't go much above 200C or below 180C.
When you think you have it about right, readdress your flow rate calibration.

If all that doesn't get you working or you can't get past a given step, you may need to address something more complex, but you'll be chasing your tail if you don't do the above first, in that order.

Re: Layers not sticking

How hard are you pulling? Since it is your first prints, I can assume you might or might not know that prints are weakest in the layer axis.

But, are you seeing any layers lift from each other, or gaps between layers? This is mostly caused by either low extrusion rate, or low extrusion temperature. The previous post provides suggestions to fix this.
