Topic: Best Glue

What's the best glue to hold Solidoodle objects together?  Would Hot Stuff work or would that melt the plastic to much?

Re: Best Glue

Plastruct Bondene works incredibly well.  From the link:

Bondene works by dissolving a thin layer of plastic material on each surface to be joined. Once the cement evaporates, a continuous solid weld is formed — one as strong as the surrounding plastic.

Re: Best Glue

I use Acrylic Cement from Tap Plastics.  The stuff is free flowing so it's easy to apply with a hypo to get a capilary action at the joints.  Since it's like acetone only 10 times more concentrated, it bonds the plasctic parts together by melting the plastic surfaces together.  The resulting weld is as strong as if the part was made as one piece.

Of course this only works with ABS.  For PLA, I use either CA glue (cyanoacrylate/crazy glue) or epoxy if a I need a more reliable bond.
