While I'm printing something, my SD2 seems to be making a squeaking noise, like metal on metal or something. Is this normal? It's not impacting the print, it just.. I dunno. The bushings on the smooth shafts seem to have lubrication.
try searching for "squeaking". I don't know if it is "normal" but I know that others have reported it.
I searched and found a few things that mine matches, squeaking on the X-axis, but.. no one seems to have a solution? And my printer has only printed a handful of parts, it's barely made a dent in the first spool.
Noticed the same with my SD2 yesterday too.
To me it seemed like it was from the y-axis, and the shafts seems to have lubrication, and I have also only printed a handful of parts.
could it be the frame squeaking? perhaps a loose rivet or two?
Not sure, it all seems very sturdy. It only happens when the x axis moves at a fairly fast rate.
I had issues with squeaking/squealing and it was coming from the front bearings/pulleys (the ones the y axis belts roll round). Try squirting a little WD40 into the axle of the pulley (just a tiny amount) and see if the noise goes away.
I just kept printing and it seems to have stopped. Hopefully it stays that way, lol
On mine it was the bearings on the idlers (pullies). I had to add WD40 to quiet them down. I think the bearings in one of them are shot. Becarefull with WD40 though as some people say it attacks ABS and some say it is ok so just be carefull. They recommend other lubes so look what they recommend.
Oh one other thing you can do if it is the bearing is to pull it up and push it down. If you feel a groove it means the bearing has worn away the metal of the shaft.
If you have to use a spray 'oil' get a can of lithium spray white grease like this ---> http://www.ebay.com/itm/CRC-White-Lithi … mp;vxp=mtr or a small tube of something similar... wd40 is not really an oil or lubricant anyway and while it may seam to cure squeaking it doesn't prolong the life of moving/rubbing parts like real grease will 
Roger that, ronsii. In fact, WD-40 will eventually evaporate.
