Well, I can get it to hold fairly well in place by friction using just one bolt.  If it tried to swing down, it'll bump against the head of the other bolt.  Not sure if you can see it in this picture:

Also holds it up higher so it won't blow much on the hot end.  Downside is it's a bit in the way of the filament's feed, so I can't see it, and kinks will be harder to clear out.  And of course it looks entirely bogus and hacked together, sitting at this funky angle.

But I think it might work.  Going to run wires now and give it a try.

Got it wired and mounted.  (Incidentally in the above I have it facing the wrong way, but that's easily fixed.)  Took a while to run the wires so they'll not get in the way of anything or get caught on anything.  Now, time to heat up the bed and try a print.

what is this autotune you speak of?  I have not seen it on my stock SD3..  am i missing something?

Looks improvised and tinkered.  Is that a good thing?  Maybe I'm getting better at this stuff.

Fourth layer of printing and haven't had a drop-out yet.

johnforeman: look at my post two up from yours for my best guess about the autotune, there's a link there.  Ian can confirm if that's what he meant, though.

About 3/4 of the way through a 90 minute print it went back into uneven extrusion and if anything it's worse than it was.  I haven't been able to get it to reengage feeding of the filament for more than a few seconds since.

I was able to feed a guitar wire up from the bottom all the way up the PEEK and out, and it brought only some gooey filament up, which I cleaned off.  Still, there could easily be more partial clogging in there.  Would that explain the filament just refusing to advance five seconds after me pushing down on it caused it to advance?
