Re: Octave gray abs

Nemesis, this is a known problem. Email octave customer service, you have a bad roll of filament.  They should be more then willing to replace it. Apparently a shipment of several thousand rolls was not the correct material and they have been replacing filament left and right because of it.  They only managed to recall about 60-70% before it was sold.

Re: Octave gray abs

I had this happen with the blue filament in a rainbow spool I picked up recently. Thankfully it only happened once, hope the rest is good.

Re: Octave gray abs

i had it happen once on a roll of octave white. popped the roll in the oven at 170f for 5 minutes, and haven't had another problem with it. parts come out strong as any of my other ABS. so i think its not so much bad material as it was bad extrusion in manufacturing.

one thing im working on is a part to bolt on to the mk4/5 extruder by lawsy that integrates a small coil spring as a strain relief. just trying to find a universal source for a coil spring so that anyone can make one without having to modify the design or special order a specific spring. this would mostly eliminate the threat of snapped filament in the first place.

I ran into this kind of problem also... so i changed the feeding direction. instead of feeding filament from the hole in the back. i printed http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:97734 spool holder, and feed filament thru top.
hope you don't have a cover on top. :-(
