Delivered today....with a broken extruder mount, bent guide rods, uneven bed and would not connect to Repetier-Host. I will be returning this and possibly exploring other options.

That's troubling. It'll have me taking a deep breath before cracking open the box on Thursday when mine arrives. Hopefully it's an isolated incident. We wait too long for these to get something in that condition. What kind of shape was the box in? Could it have been shipping damage?

I got mine in August (I beleive) last year when they first started shipping. Mine was in just packing peanuts and arrived safely in Michigan. Back then, there were numerous complaints of printers broken in shipment. Now they are packing them much better and reports of printers broken in shipment are significantly less frequent. The best thing you can do when yours arrives is to inspect it close, then perform all of the adjustments listed in the Wiki to fine tune your printer. This will create the best result for you and insure your happiness with your product. These tutorials were not available when mine arrived so I just started printing. I look back on my first prints and compared to what I can get now, they were horrible. Even so, just to see the thing create what I wanted was a big thrill. Don't expect to print as high of quality as YSB does with his figures right out of the box. I am sure he spent many hours fine tuning his printer to get those results.

Mine didn't work out of the box as my Y axis didn't move but it was a case of having to tighten some screws. So that I not all bad.
Make sure you have a tiny hex screwdriver on hand. I am not sure the exact size.

Well my SD3 arrived on the 23rd and needed a little tweaking on the z axis and needed the bed leveled, but other than that very pleased. Been printing all weekend. The SD3 is great. I already had the enclosure built, which really helps keep the larger prints from curling. Used all the tricks i read about here, glass with kapton and hairspray. It all works. No shipping damage on mine.
