thought i'd finally sign up rather than just lurking here!

My Order Date is 21/05/2012 and Invoice No is 0642 and Order number is 1431 - Still Pending though

So taking what maryla wrote, (although not knowing what times orders were placed , i think mine was around midday) there was 31 orders placed  but only 11 actually completed and paid for

Would you mind looking up your invoice number (rather than your order number) in the original confirmation email?  Comparing your invoice number to your serial number could prove useful in attempting to estimate deliveries.

Sure. Invoice # INV-2011-0376. The last 3 digits of the invoice # are not the same as the serial number but the serial number is between 300 - 400.

That's nice work.  What you've reported would seem to confirm the order number vs. invoice number disparity.

Re: Orders Shipping List

Ho ho hold your horses.

I have the 0803 and manx has the 1852, that means it's important to take all the digits! Every order from the middle of june is above 1000....

i forget the name but the 23/05 saw order 1553 so 122 more orders

your 31/05 is order 1758 so in 10 days saw 327 orders placed but going by invoice of 0803 means that only 161 was actually completed

so between yours and manx was 2326 orders and completed brings it to 1049

I think we are all in trouble if orders stop coming in..
they claim 40 employees, work out the profit margin on printers produced per week and compare it to wages, rent etc ..

Re: Orders Shipping List

Profitability

if we look at a possible cost break down labor is the major factor

frame  $25
arduino controls  $40
hot head   $50
wireing harness and metal fasteners and plastic parts (injection molded) $10
motors  $20
Labor $144 (based on $12 an hour and an assummed assembly time of 12 hrs based on production lastweek and 30 emplyees for production assempbly X 40hr work week as read in previous post) ( this could go up if they have more assembly line emplyees) hourly wage is based high since they are in ny this could be as high as 18 an hour but since im in a right to work state the price would be significantly lower. (if management reads this i know a perfect place to set up manufacturing in a town that needs the work

total estimated cost say an estiamted cost of 289 of course soem of the prices are assuemd as i do not manufacture anything myself and they may be way off base. I based the cost of arduino components off of costs i've seen on other websites for retail pricing and i'm sure they do not pay retail. they may have even switched away from arduinos to save on costs. alot also depends on where they are getting other parts. but this is a good base assumption even if we bump costs up by 50% they should still be profitable

Re: Orders Shipping List

I finally received my printer, i had to pay additional 120€ to customs ( France )
I also had the surprise to find a missing screw and some others where dancing inside the printer, but i don't find any place where they can go.
It also had some mechanical probs first.
Printer was not working properly but i got fast support from staff on IRC and it's working better now.
I appreciated fast support.

What customs did you need?

161

Re: Orders Shipping List

He means customs, as in import taxes when you import something from another country you sometimes need to pay extra fees, it depends country to country.

I thought there wasn't much of an inside (when you don't have the case).

I'm also waiting for my printer to ship to France, and I hope it doesn't arrive in the same state. At least now I know about customs hmm

Re: Orders Shipping List

Thanks for the customs report Pat. Glad to hear your printer is working fine now - and great choice for the first print!

120€ is approximately £100 which is more or less my expectation for UK customs charges as well.

Funnily enough I just got an update on the USPS site saying my printer hit UK shores on the 24th and is currently clearing customs. I may now get it before the end of the week.

I think mine also had that screw missing. Looking at the back of the printer the lower right cover screw is missing on mine. No big deal, will just put one one when I put the cover back on.

Where can I find the "invoice" number? I only see the Ordering Number.

I have ordered May 31th. There was a "lead time" of 8 Weeks. They started production in Juli.

I think in Q1 of 2013 they will be able to build them fast enough to actually beat 8 Weeks of wait time.

Be confident... we are some dudes waiting for their toys.

when you look at previous transactions in the shop you need to press view.

Also I'm not waiting for a toy, I'm waiting for a tool.
I've planned to make things to sell for Christmas. and that's why I ordered in July with an 8 - 10 week lead time.
I should have gotten my printer by now. I should be starting to produce items.

However, it seems that I won't be getting my printer for what anywhere between maybe 7 - 15 weeks. pretty much days before Christmas? certainly not enough time to actually advertise to people regarding production of custom toys/presents. get them made and ship them to my customers before Christmas. -A note to the solidoodle crew. that's the honest way of doing business, don't promise what you don't know that you can deliver.
I'm note selling items now and lying to my customers whilst I'm waiting on my suppliers to deliver on their promise. -instead I'm just not doing any business.

I could have ordered a pre-built already fettled prusa, but thought that the solidoodle looked better.
when you consider customs the solidoodle will be more expensive as well than a rep-rap prusa.

you said before that you ordered may 4th?
about 2.5 months before me, it's looking like I've still got a 2.5 month wait for my printer by the guesses given above?

On the plus side however, I don't feel lied to by support. because despite there having been 2 business days since I queried them regarding estimated delivery time they've just ignored me.

Re: Orders Shipping List

I just wanted to report that I received my "PRO model" printer yesterday (It shipped out 9/20).  Ordered 9 May / Order 928 / Invoice 422.

I was up an running in less than 1 hour.  No issues with printer condition, but no extras.

well, I got bored of having no contact from the customer support web form.

Hi Clifford,

Many thanks for your email, however that doesn't answer the question.

Roughly how long will it take to start shipping orders from July.

Regards,
Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

We are currently in the process of shipping out orders from what has turned out to be a huge backlog from May.  We will begin shipping orders from June next week.  Orders from the months following May will not take as long to ship.  We value your patience.  Please send any other questions you have.

Until I emailed this today:

Hello,

I'd like to express some serious disappointment with the support arrangements here.

as you can see below, my question has not at all been answered. and requests for clarification have been completely ignored)

Can you please without delay tell me when on earth the printer, (that have shipped by now), may actually be made?

I have another request.
Given that you guys keep making promises that you either can't or won't keep, seem unable to provide even the simplest of updates as the when you expect to start manufacturing orders for a given month of back orders.

would it be possible to have my initial purchase refunded to may card.
and for me to then order again on the same day. - and keep my place in the queue of orders?

As it is you should never have charged my card for back ordered items, and I'm running out of time in the period for which my credit card company may help me if it turns out that the printer I've paid for never actually gets made?
Allowing me to keep some kind of protection without having to wait even longer would be much appreciated. (especially as you should have never charged my card before the order was ready to be fulfilled)

Many thanks,
Daniel

I then got a reply to my previous email, saying:

Daniel,

I'm giving you a rough estimate.   We will start shipping orders from July by October 15.   This is a rough estimate.  It could take us less time now that our staff has increased and production line times are increased.

So as a mid July ordered, I would hope that they will start shipping julys orders at their best guess of 15/10, and I might get mine in 3 - 5 weeks. - somewhere between the 19th and 26th.

which does make me question.
Given that after my order they still have backorders from the second half of july, and August, and september...

why are they still saying that they expect orders made today to be shipped in 8-10 weeks.

if they still have to hope that they can hire more staff and all work faster to hopefully three month old orders in hopefully three weeks, then really it is passed optimism, it's clearly an outright lie.

171

Re: Orders Shipping List

The real answer to your question was "I don't know".  Since that usually isn't satisfactory, he needed to answer again with an estimate, which no matter what, will never be as accurate as the first answer.  So you can be mad that he doesn't (and can't) know, or you can be mad that his attempt to predict a highly variable future turned out to be wrong.

172

Re: Orders Shipping List

Be patient everyone please! I've been patiently waiting for 4 months, Order #1723, Invoice No. 788, May 30. I've been designing things via sketchup, and preparing my desk for the SD2. Should I be upset? Maybe it's the spliffs that keep me calm. You should check into that, maybe it could help you out.

...sativas are for smoking!

173

Re: Orders Shipping List

I believe most people have been patient but when they have stated that no one should be waiting for four months and four months is coming up in 10 days for me, I believe my patience has run out.

danny wrote:

Yes, that's clearly a lie. If they wanted to be honest they should put the printer out of stock, but as others have pointed out that might kill the company, which is not a good thing if you *ever* want to get your printer.

Anyway, does anyone remember the "revised shipping estimates" that they would "post shortly" (two weeks ago)?

Re: Orders Shipping List

I'm a little tired of hearing people complain about how the solidoodle website says "in stock". For you to believe it is actually in stock and not a preorder, you would have to ignore the fact it says that there is an 8-10 week waiting period and the fact that it says it is a preorder. "In stock" is solely a technical thing so that the website's cart system will let you preorder your solidoodle.

***Now Accepting Pre-Orders***

In order to get you the latest bleeding edge technology at the best price, we're currently accepting pre-orders. When listed as "In-Stock", your printer will ship in approximately 8-10 weeks after you place your order.  Your credit card is charged at the time you place your order to reserve your spot in line. We work hard to ship your printer as soon as possible while still maintaining our rigid quality control standards.
