Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

I just received a very small supply of the temperature changing filament. One changes from grey to white, the other from blue to yellow at around 30C.

Should be good for some fun!  Mood rings anyone ?? ( Only 2 moods available. Dead or alive!) 8-)

I'm also taking pre orders on the clear ABS which should be here in a week or so.

I also have a new secret sample coming......

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Just ordered four rolls of ABS including glow in the dark. Looking forward to the arrival.

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Can I just say I'm very happy with the quality of the filament I received from 3Dprintergear as well as their quick delivery.

Will be using them as my sole supplier in the future.

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Well just finished the first print. As far as I know this is the first tinted ABS filament available. I had it specially made, with more colours coming soon. Any requests ?

What do you think?

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

I think I'm a little annoyed because I didn't want to have to get filament shipped from Australia.  However since I like clear ABS, and I have girls who would think that anything printed in pink is awesome, it might be unavoidable.

How feasible is it for you to offer smaller quantities in coils?  I like the pink, but I don't know if I could ever use 1kg of it.  Since shipping overseas is expensive, I would rather get 3 colors in 1lb each, rather than way too much of one "specialty" color.

As for other colors, Blue and Green and Red are obvious choices, maybe yellow and purple as well.  I would probably buy a full kg of the blue.

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Yellow and green for me.

Id buy a coil of each, let me know if you get stock.

Any other color changing fiaments going to be coming out?

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Hi Ian,

I don't think it will be a problem to offer small amounts without reels. But from experience it can quickly turn into a birds nest if not handled properly. But if you are fine with that then I'll look into it.

I am keen to offer smaller sizes on reel too, if there is demand? Say 500g ?

I should note that this is the "red". As its printed quite thin it looks a slight pink colour. I'm not sure this is totally unavoidable. I can try getting more red put in, but then we risk losing the transparency.

Blue and green are in the pipeline, and maybe yellow?. It will all be a few weeks away at best though. I'll keep you posted.

I'll also put updates on my blog as things progress.

Hi macmub,

OK will let you know when they are available.

Not sure about more colour changing filaments. I'll check with the supplier.

Ian,

Where are you located?  I'd be up for splitting an order and shipping if you're not too far away... I'd probably end up getting a reel of every color, just to have on hand.  I'm in MD.

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

I am ready for an order when available to the US. Would love to get a little of each transparent color.  I think .5 kg reels would be perfect.

Hi macmub,

seems there is a new blue to white colour changing filament in the pipeline. Not sure when it will be released though.

I'm just waiting to hear back regarding smaller reels. Will let you know soon.

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Reels for smaller quantities would be great, but everyplace that offers less than 1kg only offers coils.  If you are allowed to buy .5kg spools, you would be lucky.  Coils can be a pain, but apparently you can spool from the side if there is a way for the coil to turn, either on a lazy susan, or suspended from a bearing like http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:85

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Just a quick update.  Yes we can do 500g spools, and probably without spool also, although I'm not keen on that. Price is still to be determined, and the spool will be the same as with the 1kg.

I should have more samples in a week or so....

So what do people prefer 1kg or 500g spools ?

46

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

1kg for mine

47

Re: Australian Filament Suppliers

Is it likely to be only one or the other?  Maybe colors that don't sell as well would be good ones to offer in .5kg spools.  There are plenty of colors I would like, but never buy because I don't want 1kg.

Most likely just the one size. But perhaps its a good opportunity to try a smaller roll. I might get a mix of both in the next order and see from there.
