Topic: Extruder not working

So I just got my new/replacement Z platform installed and now I have a new problem to enjoy.  Once I got the thing going with the new platform, my filament was clogged at the top for the second time.  Like the last time I took a drill bit and removed some of the clogged material and was good to go. I set up my print, watched it work for a bit, then went away for an hour.  When I got back the extruder was not extruding.  Since then I have tried testing it, and saw it had a static voltage on all terminals on the Atmega board.  I then plugged the extruder motor in to the Z axis on the board and it worked fine.  So clearly it looks like something happened to the board.  Any one know what I should do next to get this thing back up and running!??!

Re: Extruder not working

is the motor making any noise?

got video of the problem?

when I had a similar problem, it was suggested to swap the stepper motor chips and see what the result was (to ID if the stepper chip is the problem or the board itself)

Re: Extruder not working

The motor wasn't making any noise for the most part.  Only after screwing around with it, did I get it to shutter when I pressed the extrude button, which stopped agian after I hit reset on the board.  I sen't solidoodle photos and video, and they have suggested I too swap the motor chip.  I will get to it after work. What was your final sollution Mr_Smigs?

Re: Extruder not working

I swapped the stepper chip from the extruded and the Z axis. The z axis works fine with the other chip and the extruded still won't work.  So, I guess on to the next part?

Re: Extruder not working

sounds a lot like the problem I'm having... currently...

I sent the board back at their request, and they sent me a replacement, but the problem persists.

sent them pictures of the re-wiring and I'm waiting to hear back from them...

Re: Extruder not working

I finaly got mine working again and I dont know how. The last thing I did was take off the board, take off the atmega chip, and put everything back together, and now it's working.

really... that sounds like the vibration causing something to shake loose...

I may have to try that on mine...
