I sent the board back at their request, and they sent me a replacement, but the problem persists.

sent them pictures of the re-wiring and I'm waiting to hear back from them...

The z axis works fine with the other chip and the extruded still won't work.  So, I guess on to the next part?

What was your final sollution Mr_Smigs?

when I had a similar problem, it was suggested to swap the stepper motor chips and see what the result was (to ID if the stepper chip is the problem or the board itself)

I set up my print, watched it work for a bit, then went away for an hour.  When I got back the extruder was not extruding.  Since then I have tried testing it, and saw it had a static voltage on all terminals on the Atmega board.  I then plugged the extruder motor in to the Z axis on the board and it worked fine.  So clearly it looks like something happened to the board.  Any one know what I should do next to get this thing back up and running!??!
