Topic: z motor

Last night I was moving the bed down and it went to the bottom and tried to go farther. I got it stopped somehow . Take a look at this picture. It appears that the Z rod was pulled down into the motor casing. I never noticed what it looked like before this happened tho.Is the Z rod attached by a coupling or how?

SD3, E3D hotend,linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

That's normal. smile

The Z leadscrew is drilled in the end to accept the stepper shaft.. yours must be drilling them deeper than mine but it doesn't matter unless it comes off or starts slipping.

So just a force fit?

yep...  or they might use green loctite, bearing retainer or something similar along with the interference fit...

edit: never had the need to pull mine apart... but if I do then I will see if there is any 'glue' in there smile
