Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Thank you very much for the update.

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

damn sad, I just opened the box with the new printer-head I ordered along with a new fan to replace the original noisy one with.

Turns out that a JR-head isn´t the same as a mini-head sad, and since the fan on the JR-head is 12v I guess the heater is 12v too.

Guess I´ll see tomorrow what parts I can move over from the JR to the mini head..

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

I can't remember, are you in the UK or US?

404

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Sweden, so closer to the UK smile

405

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Sorry, I am in the US or I would buy it from you to save you a hassle.  sad

406

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Oh, but I still need a new print-head (I don´t want to call it extruder since it´s only half of the extruder without the stepper motor and gears etc smile

XYZ´s site sucks, last time I checked I couldn´t find any spare parts for the Mini and this head is the only one I could find in Sweden, and it looks the same as for the Mini.. but it´s way different sad

407

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Not only does the web site suck, but the prices are outrageous.

408

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Yep, when these printers are worn out I´m getting something completely different, maybe more Prusas smile

409

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Yea, I want a new printer myself, but the only place I have to print is in the house and from what I have read ABS printing is not to healthy for you.

410

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Get a Prusa and you can print anything you want more or less..

I got the MultiMaterial kit a couple of weeks ago but I haven´t mounted it yet, I´m rebuilding it a little first but in a couple of days I´m gonna try it out smile

Going to bed now, it´ll be fun to see about the stringing on one of the minis tomorrow..

411

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Nope, putting back the eeprom didn´t help with the bad stringing, so my idea that XYZ-ware saved something in the eeprom was wrong.

412

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

So that's good new, bad news. Good that the eeprom is not needed, bad you have a stringing issue.

Exactly smile

So if you don´t care about firmware updates you can just remove the eeprom by cutting the legs with a scalpel as close as possible to the capsule.

If you´ve got a way to reset your tags of course smile

414

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

The other option would be to dump the eeprom before removing it and solder wires like you did. Then your options are even greater.

Yeah, but actually you don´t need to be able to read it..

Just remove it, and if you need to update the firmware in the future, you just put it back in for the firmware update to run, and then remove it again..

No need to read or write to the eeprom.

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Better yet.

Tag resetting is no problem.

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

By the way, I'm sure you have already doen this but, have you tried decreasing the pressure your filament stepper motor is producing on the filament to the print head?

Nope, haven´t tried that, but when I swap the printer head between the printers the problem follows the printer head.

XYZ released a new version of XYZware a couple of days ago that has temperature and retraction settings that are adjustable so I might be able to fix the problem now anyways..

419

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

DA, that was stupid of me when you had already posted you had tried swapping the print head. Did you use the same filament in all of your tests between the two printers? Just asking to check our variables.

Yup, same filament, same .3w file, they are right next to each other, same lenght ptfe-tube etc etc.

I measured the termistors in both of them too and one was 121.9K and one 122.9K in room temperature, so 1Kohm difference and that´s not enough to change the temperature of the hot end enough to make such a difference in stringing.

I´ll have to measure them when the hot end it hot too though to see if that explains anything, I´m gonna make a "by-pass" connection so I can measure the termistors while printing and log the resistance during the whole print and compare the readings.

That´s the plan.. not sure when I´ll have the time to do it though smile

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

Hello from Italy, I downloaded the app, modified the parameters of the da Vinci jr chip, the software again detects the filament length 200/200 meters but at the time of printing, the software tells me that the filament is not original. I have the firmware 1.2.1 of September 20 .... who can help me? is there a solution?
Thank you for answering me

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

have any problem with the new version 2.1.25.2  of mini w and emutag?

423

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

I have version 2.1.24.1 of the software and now I have to throw away 156 feet of filament because I no longer accept the chip. I just use the android app with the password and modified the lines 8 0a 0b 14 15 16 17
the software counter works for me 200/200 meters but it does not let me print ...
sorry the emutag where i buy it in the case and what procedure is used? excuse me is new

i have now 2.1.24.2 and it work for me... only when the emutag reset filament (put on 9999m) and change to 300, the printer doesnt print, but change to meter of you left for the filament and print...
change line 8 to 5A505A00 and try

Re: XYZ Printing Da Vinci Jr (w) / Da Vinci Mini (w) Hacking

One other thing you may try would be to set the length back to 200 instead of 300 and see if that works.
