Topic: wrong axis movements

I'm having the strangest problem ever.  When I click home everything goes to the correct axis. But when I manually issue a g1 and x,y,z command they keep going and ignore distance and crash.   All axis are set to go to  min and are connected to min endstop. The board that I am using is mks gen 1.3.  Also this only occurs after hitting home.

Re: wrong axis movements

Endstop logic for that printer Max, Max, Min (X Y Z) in that order.
Home being right rear corner should be at 150, 150 for X and Y.  Not 0,0 as you would think.

Re: wrong axis movements

So should that be physically max, max, min or software or both? I'll try when I get home.

6

Re: wrong axis movements

Both,  so when at right rear both endstops (X&Y) that are plugged into the max pins are triggered and the position reported should be showing 150ish.  For Z the endstop is plugged into the min pins and software should report zero when the bed is homed and endstop triggered.

Re: wrong axis movements

Ok thanks will do when I get home. I have another issue that only started occurring when I switched to the ramps style board when I do . 4 or .5 layer height you can see ripples in the layers and the extruder makes pulsing sounds instead of smooth motion is this due to not enough current and direct drive? I switched to Bowden and drv8825 1/32 it is smooth going in retract but still slight pulsing.

Re: wrong axis movements

That's just a simple VREF adjustment. Use a ceramic screwdriver or a flathead from an eyeglass repair kit with a thin strip of tape. Print a calibration cube and turn the pot until the lines disappear.

what size nozzle are you running? if it is a 0.4 nozzle, you really should not be using .4 or .5 layer heights. Layer height should be no more than 80% of nozzle diameter

your max layer height should be 0.4 then.

Re: wrong axis movements

So x and y are going the right direction but z is still trying to go past the limit switch. I tried setting it to min and 0 with same results.

15

Re: wrong axis movements

test the switch !!!
Make sure you z stop switch is in place and not loose and the adjoining probe in place and not broken make sure it is adjusted correctly
In RH  type a M119 command  in the entry line at the top of the manual control panel. make sure your log is turned on this will give end stop status. Then manually engage the z stop and send the command  line again

Re: wrong axis movements

When it homes it stops at z it reports axis is at 0 and when told to move 10 it keeps trying to go past the endstop instead of lowering 10mm.

17

Re: wrong axis movements

It's sounding more and more like you just need to replace the endstop.
If you are positive the tab and button are being engaged, grab a new one.

Re: wrong axis movements

you do realize to lower the bed you need to tell it t move up??
in cnc everything is relative to the tool Ie extruder

Sounds like inverted logic in the operator controller.

Now that I think about it the switch is wired no instead of nc.

Re: wrong axis movements

So wired endstop as no. Everything moves correctly. However, when I click move to 10mm in rh it moves to 10 and when I issue G1 Z11 it moves backwards ?  X and y move to the correct location when issuing the same gcode command.

I see what's going on now but have no clue how this happened. In rh it says 40 but on the smart lcd it shows placement of 190 that would explain why when I manually issue a gcode movement it goes the other way.

Re: wrong axis movements

Ok I think I found the solution sitting right in front of me  in the firmware I don't know why but manual home position was enable and z was set for 150 I changed it to 0 and now everything seems to function as normal. Thanks a lot you guys.

Re: wrong axis movements

sounds like the firmware and software settings  for bed do not match.
