Topic: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

Hello,
yesterday my Solidoodle motherboard has burn out. I don't know because it dead.
The motherboard spark when I connected the USB cable. Now, Can I bought a RAMPS 1.4 and use this for repair my printer?
I think, this printer use Marlin and this firmware is open source and it used in reprap (RAMPS).
Can I replace Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E with RAMPS 1.4 kit (arduino mega, 3xdriver step and RAMPS board) ?
Thanks

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

I read this: http://reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4#Stepper_Driver_Boards
driver better is DRV8825.

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

DRV8825's are a better driver for E: as they will do 1/32 microsteps.  They aren't needed for X,y, or z as the extra steps doesn't noticeably improve print quality.

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

So i can buy this kit: http://www.ebay.it/itm/RAMPS-1-4-Contro … rmvSB=true

But i see another ramps 1.4: SainSmart 2 in 1 it's better because all in one, it is simple for power and connection.
What do you think about it?
Thank you very much for your time smile

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

This all depends on your budget.  Are you looking for the best option or an affordable replacement?

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

the best option because this work, in my opinion, is not easy.
But i prefer for my budget under 100€, because i have another project for this printer. When it works again , i would add a autoleveling bed (with proximity sensor)

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

Find a Rumba or Azteeg X3 or buy a ramps 1.4 but only from a very reputable vendor.  There are a lot of garbage boards out there.

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

Ok the better solution is Rumba board or similar with A4988 driver. then i put the firmware Marlin but the solidoodle firmware or another Marlin? Because in the forum i see the version of Marlin with function G29 (autolevel bed) so i can install it and then mount a M12 proximity sensor (http://www.soliforum.com/topic/13564/ha … ng-on-sd2/)

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

Yep how ever you want to do it a Rumba will handle it.  I personally do not like auto level but that's your choice.

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

Other mods for my solidoodle 2 pro ? I have standard pieces (extruder...), but i see another motors and another extruder for improve the quality of this printer. Why do not you like auto level ? It is not accurate or it has other problem ?

PS: Can you help me for add another fan for PLA? in http://reprap.org/wiki/RUMBA#FAN0. Fan0 or Fan 1 for PLA? ithink FAN0 for extruder and FAN1 for pla but i don't know.

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

You can add a g-code controlled nozzle fan and I alway mix up which pins.  Just try one and when it is always on that means it's the other pins wink
Auto level simply adds another un needed variable into a system with too many variables.  Using software to compensate for a poor mechanical platform should be a last resort.  It also adds unnecessary complexity to an already complex system.  Properly level your bed and use glass to create a flat surface.  Remove any slop or play and there is no need for auto level.

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

Hello, I have only A4988 drivers, is it a big problem?
I set it with max microstep (16).

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

the A4988 stepper drivers are fine.
As wardjr said before the only one that would really benefit from a DRV8825 is E, but it is not a necessity.

I also do not care for the "auto-leveling" thing, and have not found any reason to add it to any of my machines (currently 4).
Taking the time to properly adjust things and removing any slop in the mechanical's will go much farther than auto leveling will. Not to mention that you STILL need to properly level your bed manually before using an auto-leveling system - so what is the point?

Re: Solidoodle Motherboar Rev E Burn help me

I have now Rumba, i bought it at 05/2016 and it arrived at 07/2016. Now I have all for repair my Solidoodle and i won't add auto-levelling. I will use the latest Firmware Marlin.
