Topic: clogged extruder? layer shift? need diagnosis help
I think I have two problems in one here: Clogged hot-end and layer shift (perhaps not quite visible). Picture is of an ABS print at .1mm layer height, and the stuff hanging from the hot end is just 10mm of manual feed at 100mm/min (something that has always worked). Extruder temp 205c, bed temp 80c.
Two nights ago I took the hot end apart and cleaned it with heat, acetone, wire, and it looked great and worked great at first... now this.
Questions:
1. When I manually feed the motor sound is not quite uniform. It's a bit like a quick soft "runrunrunrunrunrunrun", rather than just "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". Is that normal?
3. Does the thread of plastic from the manual feed look like it's from a clogged extruder?
2. I have installed a printed cable chain which perhaps pulls a bit when the print head goes into this corner. I have braided fishing lines instead of belts, as well as lawsy's carriage replacements. I didn't witness any pulley slippage, but I'm wondering if it is that or axis motor skipping. Any thoughts?
Lastly, any experience on no-name extruders? I can't really justify the cost of an E3D at the moment...
I've never understood how to post a picture here. All the obvious things don't work.
