Topic: E3d v6 upgrade problems

I just installed an E3d v6 on my Solidoodle 3. It seemed like everything was going right until I connected to Repetier and tried to heat the extruder. It would work briefly then stop. It all stopped working at once (X,Y and Z movement, extruder function etc..) When I press disconnect and then connect again, it all works briefly then stops working again. Could it be my Repetier settings?

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

Did you update the firmware? This is a mandatory step or you will have several issues similar to what you mention.
You could also have a short. What errors are you showing?

Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

If the temp sensor isnt reading correctly it will throw a m999 error and it will prevent the motors from moving.

^that.
You have a short or loose wire.

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

I am experiencing a similar issue. I have a solidoodle 4 which I am in the process of installing a v6 on. Without the v6 even plugged in. The manual controls don't do anything. The home buttons work but the other ones don't. It also gives a m999 error, but nothing is plugged in to the thermistor connector. Does anybody know what might be causing this?

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

The fact that you have nothing plugged into the thermistor is causing this.  Why isn't your thermistor plugged in?
Congrats on your first post

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

Nothing plugged into the thermistor connection would result in a temperature fault. There has to be a valid temperature reading for the printer to do anything, it is a safety interlock.

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

oh, that makes sense. The thermistor is not plugged in because I am working on a mounting bracket and connecting wires to the v6.

Re: E3d v6 upgrade problems

I updated the firmware when I did the upgrade and didn't get an error. When I start repetier it does nothing else out of the ordinary except for the movement issue. I'll double check my wiring
