Topic: Extruder Stepper Replacement

So my Hobb Goblin arrived and then I snapped the end of an allen key off in the grub screw on the stock SD2 extruder gear sad

Tried drilling it out, but it's a real pig. So I might just get a replacement.

My first thought is this:

But that might be a bit heavy for already overworked X carriage stepper.

Any thoughts? What would you choose? Does anyone have the specs for the Extruder Stepper for an SD2?

I do not know the specs for the stock motors.  They are heavier than you'd think and produce very little torque for their size.  My advice would be look for the highest torque motor you can find with the same/similar dimensions.

I also do not know the spec of the current motor, but a 0.9 stepper is a good idea.  Between that and the smaller pitch diameter of the Hobbed Goblin you will get much higher precision.
