Re: FilaWinder Documentation

penk is burned.
See here :-(
http://picload.org/image/ldgrwwp/penk.jpg

When I go to it via USB, light yet at least the lights but otherwise is nothing more.

I could not work with the supplied AC adapter.
We have other outlets in Germany.

I have a power supply that has the same specifications as used her.

I bet your power supply has reversed polarity relative to the one Ian included. Why did you not just use a plug adapter with Ian's power supply? Like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Grounded-American … B0038L54ZO

They are very cheap. Like 1 euro each!

The other possibility is that you miswired something, resulting in a short circuit.

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

I'm really not a electronics expert.
But yesterday I have worked closely with this power supply.
This morning I played the posted by Ian firmware on it and tried again and then it is smoked.

But the engine would turn but when I ansteuere it directly to 12V or?

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

It should be center positive.  Did the green light on the original power supply turn on when you plugged it in?  USB can only power the Arduino.  The servo and motor get power from the power supply.  It's possible that the motor didn't try to turn until you got the new firmware uploaded, and then burned it when it tried to move.

He never used the included power supply, the outlets are different over there and he didn't feel like getting an adapter it seems?

you must change the regulator 7805 on board near the 2 capacitors

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

The diagram at the corner shows that the center of the plug is positive and the outside of the plug is negative.  The power supply you used should have a similar diagram showing which part of the plug is positive and which part is negative.

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

No, it goes to no more light if I hang the power supply off.

When I go to it via USB and then PWR TX goes to.

Is there only this board with you, or even in Europe? Otherwise, yes, it takes that long again. Do not understand it really.

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

vino 85

i'm sure you've inverse the polarity when you've pluged it!!!

85

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

The polarity will depend on which way you turned the barrel when you plugged it into the wire of the power supply.      It needs to be set so that positive is center and negative is outer.  I don't know how to determine that, I can't find the manual for it.

I am also interested in knowing why the original power supply didn't work.  Did you use an adapter?  Did the green light on the power supply turn on when you plugged it into the wall?

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

I have not used the original power supply.
Have no adapter for your power supply.

The day before I have just used this power supply and it worked. The problems were only due to firmware.

My power supply has this connector:

Can you please write me once how to describe the basic board. Exact designation.

87

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

My defective board it is a purchased part or have soldered that?

Please give me the name.

88

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

It is a custom board made for the FilaWinder.  I can send you another, but you have to promise to use the original power supply with an adapter so if there is a problem we know that it is not caused by unknown hardware.  Send me a PM with your address.

It is not possible for firmware to cause a burned trace. That is like saying you ate an apple and it turned you into a horse.

Either you reversed polarity, or you short circuited something in your wiring. A new board won't fix that.

90

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

Probably the servo was still able to operate with the reversed polarity somehow.  A problem with the firmware was keeping the spool motor from working.  The new firmware fixed the motor problem and when it tried to draw power it burned the trace.  Or there might have been a short somewhere else, possibly where the wires connect to the buttons.

Sure, though local shops should have one too.

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

hi all
someone could  show me exactly the side  of the OH090U on board, please?
a picture will be welcome
thx

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

Are you assembling a PCB and need to know which way to face it?  The writing should face the edge of the board, and will be pointing down when you bend it over.  When you look down on the finished board you will see a plain black square rather than a black square with white text.

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

I have my winder assembled but it does not run in auto. In manual, the left, right and center buttons are erratic and the pot does not control the speed. I am sure I must have blown the pot during soldering. I just wanted to confirm the pot would cause all of these symptoms.

99

Re: FilaWinder Documentation

The easiest way to tell would be to upload one of the v9 firmwares I have added to the first post and use troubleshooting mode.  It shows the reading the Arduino gets from the pot so you can see if it changes as you turn.  Also if there is a problem with a button it might cause it to go in and out of guide-setting mode, or sensor calibration which would cause erratic behavior.

If you have a multimeter you can check the resistance between the middle pin and one of the outer pins and see if it changes as you turn the knob.  Troubleshooting mode will give you a better view of overall operation and help you spot the problem if it isn't the pot.
