Topic: [Dump] Emergency FW updater for Da Vinci Jr. 1.0

Hello,

I had a problem with my Jr 1.0 with FW version 2.4.2, my every spool gave an error and I couln't do any firmware update.
I contacted XYZPrinting, and they gave me this file so I could update my printer.

It seems to update FW to 2.4.4
If you want, you can have the updater file.

Here is what the XYZ's support said:
Hi Customer,

Our apologies for the delays, our office was closed during the Holidays causing a traffic in our system and loads of cases and we are working hard on resolving them all.

Please use the hotfix version that has been released by our engineers:

Follow the next steps:

-Connect the printer to your computer. Make sure that the device is being detected.
-Extract the .exe file from the .zip folder that you downloaded.
-Run the .exe file
-Choose on what USB port you have inserted the printer (i.e. com3, com4, etc)
-Click upgrade

Please keep us posted with the result.

Best Regards,

Thank you!
This program helps us to understand how the fw upgrade is done.

Thanks for sharing!

The encrypted firmware v2.4.4 is stored as resource in the exe file.

Patching the exe to other lower encrypted firmware and fixing the size bytes, let the printer update with success massage, but the firmware is still unchanged.

Need to look deeper, maybe I miss something or checksum/hash.

Have you looked the fingerprint thing? The firmware download from xyzprinting came with a long number before the file name, and kr15_uk mentioned fingerprint is SHA-2? This long number or the fingerprint may be somewhere in the .exe
