WHAT? why would you want to promote un-safe use of hazardous materials by melting them in home. maybe you need to read the Material Safety Data Sheets for them 1st. Nylon is same stuff used as weed eater line and very toxic fumes when melting especially indoors UN-ventelated, same as PET and other plastics that normally are melted in industrial lab conditions with proper protective measures both personal and environmental. maybe somebody needs to not breath so many toxic fumes as to impair thinking. just to try a new plastic for toy making. much less risking the health of others in their homes. not all harmful fumes have odor or visible detection. take Carbon Monoxide for example. GEEZ people. do you really think OSHA and other safety regulatory agencies are just party poopers? if so why obey traffic laws etc. go ahead and run that red light at the busy intersection on your bicycle if it only applies to cars. maybe when they run ya over it wont really hurt... good greef! most laws/rules are just trying to protect you, not interfere with your fun. as for finding MSDS any supplier of materials must furnish it to you upon request when buying the materials for years now in the USA.

Funny, the MSDS listed here http://www.velleman.eu/downloads/files/ … x1msds.pdf for a major manufacturer of ABS filament says it is not harmful if used in a well ventilated area (homes, and home offices included) unless it is on fire. No issues with melting unless an individual is sensitive and then may only cause a headache. There are no known hazards or risks to any of the chemicals in the filament.

The same applies to the Taulman 618 Nylon, which by the way is a different composition than weed eater line (which is dangerous when melted). http://www.octave.com/pdf/MSDS/Taulman- … on-618.pdf You were right n2ri, the MSDS are available. As long as the printer is in a ventilated area, the average 3D printer owner should be safe.
