Re: Filament Winder Released!

I was hoping you might consider making the lasercut parts optional for penny-pinching buyers, but I guess of the number of people desiring a filawinder, and the number of those people who have access to a lasercutter, and then the number of those people who are short on cash, might be fairly low.

But personally it would benefit me tongue

Check the derivatives (remixes) for the FilaWinder at Thingiverse.  Someone came up with some printed work arounds for the laser cut pieces.

Re: Filament Winder Released!

Thanks Ian, I didn't even notice that.  But it's my understanding Elmoret's $169 package includes the lasercut parts. I was asking because I thought perhaps the price would be a little lower if the lasercut parts was an add-on.  I just would benefit from ease of sourcing all the rest of the parts besides the main STLs and lasercut parts. I find the cost a tiny bit prohibitive though in the real-world it is actually a superb price for such a well developed niche product (so I wouldn't for a moment complain of it being over-priced, it's just slightly over-my-price.)

Very polite and very true for many, I suspect .

Having said that, luckily it was within my budget, so I have mine on the way :-)

Also, it appears to have been developed with the same attention to detail as Tim showed with the Filastruder.  I like the idea of an all in one package as I don't have much time to shop around... :-)

Masterbatch, ABS and PLA Pellets available for UK and Europe.

I agree, being a college student it's just out side of my budget (with the extra cost of shipping doesn't help) But for most people I can see it being well priced.

I may try making it my self, I already have a lot of the electronic parts hanging around here, and I could live with 3D printed corner brackets and jig sawed plywood. I just would hate not supporting Ian and the hard work he's put into this.

Ian, Have you thought about maybe just selling the bare PCB's? They would be cheap to ship international and people could still support your work.
