Re: Filastruder Kit Gallery - Pictures of Filastruders in the wild!
Just got mine up and running over the weekend. Took about 24hrs to fill a standard 1kg spool of mg94.
Great so far!

Hi Tim filastruder 1588 ready for testing three hrs to build
Filawinder all built so here is some photos during the first six hr testHow do I add a link for a short vid
Well its been running on a weekly basis doing 500 grams a time so my only gripe is the speed but thats not a complaint (Tim)
So will order a upgrade motor in the next couple of weeks
Very pleased not had to buy any fillament this year.
What sort of speed are you seeing, and with what material?
Tricks to increase speed:
Fully insulate barrel
Drill nozzle +100 microns and increase temperature 10C
#1870 is ready for the initial purge!
Hi guys,
it seems that something was wrong during the electrical assembly of my filastruder kit and after a small explosion I no longer have the black component on the stall protector board (see the arrow in the attached pic ).
Could you please tell me the reference designator on it so I can replace it?
I live in Italy and I'd like to replace it in the next days since I'm carrying on some experiments.
Thank you.
As I mentioned in my email reply to you I'm completely out of these boards right now so I can't check, but I'll send a couple users to this thread.
If that is a little too blurry, it says:
WS
LM317LZ
2287
Picture added to confirm this is the correct part in question.
Not that part, the part under the heatsink. If the heatsink is on there permanently don't worry about it.
Well, it WAS fixed on there, but doesn't our community have a strong history of going out of our way to help others?
XL SEMI
XL 40I5EI
3267R
I'm betting that's XL 4015EI, the 1 looks like an I.
Here's the data sheet:

Here's the chip on eBay:

You might be able to substitute another IC, my concern would be matching the switching frequencies.
I foolishly swapped the polarity, and the chip blew a hole. The chip without the heat sink. What Is it?
Do you mean the one near the input power terminal? That'd be LM317LZ.
here is my "redneck edition" ^^
It costs me tears, cries and pain but ... here it is
For now, i extrude Styron ABS at 195 for a 1.74/1.78 diameter (need to rework insulation)

The V2 mounted vertical ,I shifted the bolts forward so that the hopper would fit mounted the box section on a plate and screwed to the wall .This is my second Filastruder, this is a significant development on the older models .I would like a hopper design that allows for front loading but that would block the fan, a longer extension may help .Cheers
Filastruder #1956 reborn. Thanks to d.wood0403 for taking great care of it before selling. Thanks to AZERATE for his recommendations. And most of all thanks to Tim and Ian for very well designed machines. Still working through deciding on the final setup and fidgeting, but within 2 hours of turning it on, I was making awesome filament: 1.75 +- .03, 28 inches per minute @ 185. Apologies for the quality of the photos.
what ever happened to the one Sheilds1 had that he said he was selling due to new job and relocating? he made really nice filament for me with it a year ago
I contacted him to buy and he was supposed to pack it and give me a shipping quote. That was the last I heard from him. Doesn't answer PMs or post to the forums anymore.
Really cool to see, thanks for sharing.
he was slow replying last year like 4 months maybe new job keeps him busy or he may have decided to keep it a bit. it was working great though just to let you know in case he does sell it. he just had lots going on I think.
Here's #2013! Had to make a few adjustments after I took this pic but it's up and running now Great job you filaguys! Can't wait to start experimenting!
Here's my new filastruder in action on a purpose built trolley so I can move it around the house. Since mounting Vertically Its made heaps of difference in consistency of sizing and reliability, no more noodle jams.
I also cant remember the Serial as I think I accidentally threw out the sticker
Regards,
Stephen

@7:58 if you want to cheat.
I didn't expect it to make an appearance in the video, but it was a nice surprise. They've run all sorts of polymers through it, stuff I'm not at liberty to discuss. Interesting stuff, though!
