Topic: Apprentice extruder max temp?

In the instructions manual for the apprentice printer is says that the extruder can do 0-210 degrees C, But the ABS i got from Solidoodle has a recommended print temperature that is 230C + (or something, don't quite remember....)
Is it just a typo in the manual or should I not go over that temperature? As I have understood, most ABS filament needs a higher temperature than 210 to print. So when Solidoodle wrote that it could print ABS and PLA was they wrong?

Re: Apprentice extruder max temp?

The thermistor isn't at the nozzle so the temp readings aren't as accurate. The book instructions are correct.

Could you post some pictures of the instructions manual? Just curious. This is the first SD machine I know of to include one.

We usually use 215, but anywhere from 200-220 should work. You may need to experiment a little and find what works best for you and the filament you are using. The firmware has a max temp of 230 so if either extruder reaches that all heaters will be shut off.

Here are some quick pictures of the instructions. Just ask if something is unclear and you want a closer and better pic...
