Topic: newbie - solidoodle 3 , job does not start , (command waiting)

hi guys,
my first printer arrived yesterday and I started playing with it.
at first i tried to print some objects and it was good till the 10th layer then it did not stick. anyway , it doesnt matter, i have been reading a lot about sticking issues so i ll solve it.

my main problem is, after my 4th attempt, my printer started to act weird.
i can manual control the extruder and the motors, no problem. it heats well too. but when i select a model and slice it and try to start job, the motors and extruder works well till it gets to the starting point. extruder barely touches to the bed, bed adjusts, then nothing.
it stops.
repetierhost app freezes also or it says " # command waiting" /
after this whatever you do you can not move extruder or any motor.
i disconnect the power at this point and close and run the app again.
with no job, nothing, all the manual controls work perfect.

Just a shot...but try switching out the USB cord to the printer...

Are you sure it's not just waiting for the extruder and bed to reach temperature? When you start a job the printer hangs until the extruder and bed come to temp with the stock slic3r settings.

I don't think he'd be seeing "# Commands Waiting" if it were just heating the extruder or bed. 
This is some kind of communications error so +1 on checking the USB cable.  Also make sure your computer isn't trying to go into sleep mode or do an automatic update.

I couldnt solve the problem on my main laptop but i used an old windows 7 notebook anf it works perfect now. I ll dedicate this one to the printer i guess.
