Topic: Solidoodle bolts and threads

Hello everyone,

I ran into a small issue. I want to replace my original idler arm brackets because they are starting to crack, however the only screw that holds the bracket on it not being friendly and is now at a point where is will not move any more. Overall I'm pretty sure it's stripped so i have to force it out. This means that the screw and the threads will have to e replaced. Has anyone found the threads that are pressed in online anywhere?

Thank you for your time and review...

It's a m3.I was trying to remove it too. I wanted to replace those brackets, but like you said they are stubborn.I probably will  just grind off the the "nut"

SD glues them to the frame then inserts the M3s. Mine took a little force too.

On closer inspection, it looks like chisel marks on that nut.

Re: Solidoodle bolts and threads

I had trouble with those m3's when replacing mine. I think they've deformed the nut to lock them in. If you can't force them out then just carefully drill them out with a 3.5mm drill bit - this will destroy both the screw and the threads on the insert. I replaced mine with a slighty longer M3 screw and a nut.

Re: Solidoodle bolts and threads

you talking about the well nuts? like part expandable rivet with threaded nut built in? they make an expencive kit with several sizes plus tool to set them in place.

Heat 'em up with a small butane torch they'll screw out just fine.
