Topic: Why does solidoodle not just go to the e3d extruders?
Seems like a more high quality extruder for better results.

Some combination of cost and pride I think. ![]()
yea but Pride could Cost them customers.
Hotend, you mean. The extruder feeds the filament.
It is surprising to me they don't just ship with the e3d, or offer it as an upgrade. They could immediately tell users "we support a vast array of materials" instead of "ABS all day but PLA and you're on your own". Not to mention all the support requests they'd save on from hotend problems. Of course this also means shipping with a beefier power supply.
I am interested in seeing how the all metal extruder performs on the Press, though, but it's the same PEEK hotend.

It's OK shield, I get that confused all the time. We know what you mean. ![]()
You guys are correct. I'll get the terminology correct one day. Thanks
By no means meant to be insulting. Part of the confusion is from Solidoodle themselves; they mix it up all the time. Proper terminology makes it easier to search the forums, though.
