Topic: odd behavior of printer when starting job

worked fine all day yesterday with several prints, placed new object today and sliced gcode. when started print it moves normal to start point then makes tiny jerks as it starts each line at corners b4 continuing that line to next turning point at almost normal speeds then repeats this odd stuttering. this is not going to be an hour an half print at this rate but more like day and half. extruder oozes some as its sooo slow. cant find any loose or non working wires, parts etc. even re sliced with browser off to see if that caused it. nothing has changed since it finished last print last night just new stl file.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

tried a gcode I printed 3 times fine yesterday and same crap. do these "F"ing SD boards just burn out like a cheap Walmart GE liightbulb ?

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

dam barely a year old and never finished the roll of filament I bought with the printer. b4 I invest a few hundred more into replacement and upgrade parts in this POS Solidoodle think Ill just cut out the middle man and buy one of the Chinese knockoff duel extruder brands. hell got the same used car dealer "tail light warranty" (warranty is over when customers tail lights are out of view)

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

ok after going over every wire connector 3 times and unplugging and replugging every cord plus manual test of all stepper motors and not finding anything. I retried the whole print process and it worked. go figure.

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

I've had this happen, but only when a wire is about to break, probably the extruder.  Check all wires close to the extruder for weak areas.  Causes stuttering of extruder motor.

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

The only problem I've had that's board-related, are the connectors for the heaters.  A poor connection causes the wires to get hot (I've actually had burnt wires) and erratic bed/nozzle heating.

I've replaced the red punch-down connectors (that SD added solder to), with crimp-on connectors; haven't had any issues since.

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

did you get this worked out?  what was it?

SD3, RUMBA, 360W power, ABS: Glass bed + Aquanet Extra Super Hold Hairspray, Anti-backlash Z spanner, Repetier Host + Slic3r

Re: odd behavior of printer when starting job

it started working after 3rd reboot like some ghost settings gliche or something. all connectors and wires check fine. no signs of burnt spots on board or loose pins etc.
