Topic: updating SD2 Firmware on rev-e motherboard?

so i've been trying to update my firmware to accommodate an e3d v6, but have had no luck.  I have looked at the wiki's tutorials but they use a different board, and mine will not compile with that firmware.  Im at a bit of a loss as to where i should go.  Any help would be very appreciated.

i forgot about the bootloader somehow, i luckily did not break anything and everything is smooth now. Thank you.
