Topic: PWM cooling fan questions

I'm finally getting around to working on adding a PWM cooling fan to my mostly stock solidoodle 2, and I'm wondering what kind of nozzles to blow the air work best for people? I've seen annular rings that surround the hot end, and single and double nozzles to blow one or two streams of air. Any pros or cons of one design versus another? (I think I remember at least one person complaining that the annular ring blocked visibility).

Re: PWM cooling fan questions

If using a stock SD hotend, print This which works great for stock everything. Personally, I recommend printing an MK5 extruder in ABS if you have not already, then add This Guy.

Currently there are no E3D v6 fan mounts aside from the possibility to the first link I gave. PEEK fans are a dime a dozen on Thingiverse.

Usually, the ones I have seen with two air paths (one direct to hotend body, one to nozzle) are for the E3D since it needs to be actively cooled since it is all metal and the heat transfers further than the stock PEEK.

Hope this helps.
