Topic: Third party heated bed

Hi all, I recently received my Solidoodle 2 Base model and started printing with a lot of warping. Because of my budget, I could not afford the model with the heated bed. I just came across some cheaper heated bed on eBay. Is it alright to use them? If so, what can I put under the heated bed as I think it is quite thin. Thanks - Harold

Re: Third party heated bed

if i remember, the "non heated bed" version of the S2 is an acrylic plate. you need to change this plate as you can't put a heat source under this...

you can use alumunium plate or glass plate...

In addition, you may need a larger power supply.

SD2 Expert stock, ABS fume fan,
XYZ DaVinci 1.0 stock ABS, Simplify3D
QUBD Two-Up PLA, new 3D printed X gantry, Y idler, flex z coupler, extruder mount, E3D Lite

@ysb, thanks!  If I would to use a glass plate underneath the heated bed, the screws will be uneven as the top of the three screws holding the build platform looks a bit like a cone shape and then it will protrude out.

Give us a link to the heater you want. You may need alot more depending on 1) Voltage 2) wattage 3) size
