Topic: My Replacement Extruder with Quick Release
Hi.
Recently, my mk5 failed when the spring loaded tension arm screw tore out of it holder after repeatedly having to remove a failing hotend to clear up clogs.
As a result, I decided to create my own jigsaw replacement in openSCAD, replicating much of the mk5 but adding features I'd like to see, including a new tension mechanism. I'd like to share my results.
I added a flip-up quick-release latch for the tension arm, and beefed-up all the hinge pivot points for strength. I also added an optional swinging mount for a small 25mm peek-assembly cooling fan. Lastly, I decided to replace the flimsy hotend electrical connectors with screw-on coax power connectors used for security cameras, and added an optional bracket to hold these connectors and make the package neat and tidy:
